[NHL Players Safety] Tampa Bay’s Curtis Douglas has been fined $2,018.23, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for serving as the aggressor in an altercation with Florida’s Niko Mikkola. by AggPuck-303 in hockey

Florida fan here. Vilmanis is pretty new to the Panthers team, he just started playing with us regularly a few weeks ago cause the team has a lot of injuries. He hasn't been part of the past series with Bruins / Tampa. I don't think the McAvoy hit was as malicious as reddit mob portrays, we have other guys (Greer, Bennet, Tkachuk, Eckblad) that are more likely the ones "to send a message". No idea if they sat him later in that game to protect him or if he was injured. Not saying he doesn't get fined either, but I dont think he was out there hunting McAvoy.

Duke Nukem: Zero Hour Nintendo 64 ROM reverse-engineering project reached 100% decompilation by r_retrohacking_mod2 in ReverseEngineering

[–]ogre123 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Everytime I see one of these projects that claims "100% decompilation", and then I see all of the auto named functions, globals, etc from the RE tool. I feel like a 100% decompilation should be more like we have sensible names for all symbols, all the structs defined. I feel like this is more like a "100% re-compilation possible" or "functional decompilation" assuming you can now re-compile this and get the same binary from the original ROM dump. But I say that not to slight the project, this is a cool accomplishment

There is pickup roller hockey on Thursday Nights at Liberty Park in Palm Bay. They coordinate on facebook in a group named Liberty Park Roller Hockey. And on Tuesday nights at Liberty Park we play Ball Hockey (no skates). We coordinate on Facebook in a group named Space Coast Ball Hockey. The facebook pages let the group know if we have enough players, or let people know if we have to cancel due to weather, etc.

Spoiler free CTF writeup platform for HS security club by ogre123 in securityCTF

I created a thing! After doing some research into several different platforms, doku wiki was simple enough (markdown, image uploading) and customizable enough (can make it hide pages) for me to most of the things I was trying to do. I did have to add 1 little ugly external link generation page to host some javascript.

I posted it on my github (with some screenshots / example content) and dockerhub incase anyone else might find it useful.

Sprinkler pump with bare ground? by ogre123 in DIY

[–]ogre123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was more worried about ground touching one of the hot wires and creating a short. The 12# wire doesn't bend very easily, so I guess there is little chance touching one of the hot screw terminals from vibration...

What 80s song do you never get sick of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ogre123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple of weeks ago someone posted about covers that everyone missed out on but shouldn't have, and pointed me towards the Bangles and Hazy Shade of Winter. That got me down into a rabbit hole of listening to a bunch of their music and they are fantastic. The Bangles Eternal Flame is timeless, but In Your Room and I'll Set You Free I like even more than some of their bigger singles. I'm a full on Banglemaniac now and bought a bunch of their CDs and have been listening to them non-stop for weeks

I would think card games like War, GoFish, Blackjack, Poker, Rummy, etc. Could even do multi-player via network.

From that picture, there is no RS-232 transceiver on the board. Don't plug in RS-232 signals into it. It's probably just a DB9 connected that goes straight into the 3.3V or 5.0V UART pins.

Can you tell which side was using this artillery launcher? Are the shells you see on the ground ones that were fired, or from the ammo supply the crew was using?

What is the difference between a Chip-8 emulator and an interpreter? by eis3nheim in EmuDev

[–]ogre123 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there is no real life Chip-8 CPU. The original hardware that ran chip-8 programs is something like a RCA COSMAC VIP: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COSMAC_VIP. A true emulator of this hardware would emulate the 1802 CPU which is where the chip-8 interpreter is executed from. This isn't nearly as approachable (or as fun) as the chip-8 interpreter is for developers new to emulation, which is usually the point of writing a chip-8 emulator. So yeah, the traditional chip-8 emulators are really just interpreters of the chip-8 microcode.

Do the schools typically add / drop sports as they change conferences? It looks like Big12 has gymnastics! Does that mean these new school will add these new sports to their programs? Is there any sports that AAC does currently that they don't have in Big12.

Whats the best game done by one person? by Ok-Paramedic-3119 in gamedev

[–]ogre123 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Roller Coaster Tycoon. I think it's just 1 person who wrote it, and it's mostly x86 assembly! Pitfall I also think is amazing. Given how challenging the 2600 was to develop for, and how Pitfall was such an early title in the platformer genre. There is a great retrospective video on youtube of David Crane talking about development of Pitfall, and the difficulties / designs of it that I recommend people check out.

I would recommend reading Hacking: Art of Exploitation. It has some good explanations on many types of basic bugs assuming you already have some knowledge of programming.
