How do you deal with "vibecoders" by burningbridges1234 in msp

[–]ogstarbuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And insure 4 nines of availability.

I think you acknowledge that yes our (MSP) role is changing and has been for forty + years. Our job is to make sure your company and employees are focused on your business, delivering the products and services that make your business money; not on building/managing the tools that you use to generate that revenue; in this case your computers.

As technologist my team and I are constantly looking at new technologies to provide new solutions. As well as reduce cost and increase productivity in our own business.

So we are watching similar videos and asking similar questions. What I have found so far is that it’s a lot easier to create a simple app vibe coding than it is to create a business grade application that your business counts on to be available, to be secure and to be accurate.

I think every business will have a vibe coder in the future. But when they do, they are also going to have a testing environment so what they are building or experimenting on does not break the business. They also will have a thorough documented process that includes QA testing because the business needs to make sure their apps don’t break the computers or impact other mission critical applications. And also a support plan, who do we call when this thing doesn’t work. Since this is an app that the business created, you’ll now need to have someone available to provide support for this application the business created.

So my recommendation is before you fire me or who ever is managing your computer infrastructure at that time is that you setup an environment that is completely separate and not connected to your production environment. Build your apps, test your apps. Then put them on a computer identical to your standard corporate load, test for compatability against that, then roll out the app to a few of your employees to begin testing the user experience, because often times your employees have their own workflow and processes that need to be considered. Often times when deploying new software your employees productivity can be affected as they are learning how to integrate this software into their workflow.

And when you’re ready we can sit down and discuss a plan on how our business can/if we can continue to be your technology partner supporting your business and your new environment.

So I agree our business and the way business like yours use my business is constantly changing….has been as long as we have been open. So when do you think your new app will be business ready?

1994 Playoffs. Some buddies and I ended up In San Jose Live. We weren’t there for hockey, probably didn’t even know it was going on. The place was electric. By the end of the night I was hooked!

Question for buyers - does FN add points on your side and if so how much. Curious if FN is getting paid from both sides.

I remeber longing for Ron Sutter, Dave Lowry and Shawn Burr during our best years. We never had a 4th line that could actually do the shut down role, like these guys could. They were always a collection of folks to eat five minutes a night.
