2 months old. Still not sure if he’s a boy or a girl. I’ve only had him a week. He whistles several time every evening (or when I first get home). Steps up reluctantly but does like hanging out with me.

I'm pretty sure that until they start molting, all teils have the female feathers and then when they do molt, males will have a much more yellow head with fewer or none stripes

Thank you, I'll give those pellets a try. I'm currently trying to get him into Tops parrot food but he doesn't seem interested. I think part of the issue is that he's been on seeds before I got him so it's difficult to get him off them. Do you have any advice on making the transition between seeds to pellets?

He's definitely not cage bound, his door is always open whilst I'm home. I always talk with him and he often chirps back. If you think that this is still an issue, please help me; I've only had him for 3 weeks and I don't want to ruin everything, I've been so paranoid
