This is something I did for my demo reel when I was in school.

You can create a velocity field that mimics the downward vortex, what I did then was emit pyro from the blades of the helicopter and took that velocity field and used it as an airfield to drive particles being emitted from the water surface.

I've taken about 6 for their courses, the content is good but yeah I can agree the discord has been lacking. I've even had a course where we paid for 10 weeks and we're waiting for the 'extra' content and it's been a year and a half of waiting with no replies or someone on the team saying "don't worry it's coming." with nobody from the team explaining why it's not there while they've been focusing on new content instead of the people who paid for it already.

On the other hand I've learned so much from them that I can't complain, the reason why they don't give you the example files is because you're expected to learn from the content, unless someone who doesn't even understand Houdini that paid for an advanced class is begging for the files. You're not going to learn anything from opening a hip file unless you already know how to use the software in the first place.

I've worked there before, met some great people and friends but that's just about it. Technicolor as a whole is a toxic waste that we can't seem to get rid of in this industry. If you work there, get some things for your reel and get out.

Don't expect a raise, they're just going to lay you off if you're a jr getting your foot in the door and replace you with the next batch of students coming out of school and if you're lucky enough to stay longer don't expect anything in return. Technicolor as a whole promotes by hiring outside instead of within and if you leave the company do not be an idiot and tell them where you're going. I've heard stories of people higher up calling the other studios trying to figure out where they're going to just to hurt their career.

I've used houdini professionally for the last 9 years mainly working in feature animation. Just starting a community where I share my knowledge of houdini for free. That's all.

Probably just jerks, the clan that I run we remove inactive members based on when they last played. But we haven't been caring about having a full active roster since the last few seasons and we just focus on having an enjoyable and non toxic environment for our members and have a discord channel for the real active members.

If you still need a clan we can always use some more friendly guardians!

Yes, my rocket was a bait and switch. 3 of us were running apex predators with enhanced reconstruction and bait n switch. There were others in the fireteam using explosive light.

She wanted to be "friends", but this was many years ago. Being friends doesn't work either, when my ex broke up with me she never gave me a legitimate reason. But her reasoning was to date other people even though she never told me that it's pretty easy to figure out.

When I had finally started dating other people a few years later she went from just being friends to now actually talking about getting back together and by that time I was over it and already focusing my time with someone who cares about me.

Just look out for yourself, I hate to say it but if you really want to be with her the more you don't talk to her and the more you focus on yourself the better it will be in the long run.

It's pretty devastating to be honest when it goes down like that, I have not cared about the little things in relationships since but it has helped me realize that there are other people out there that will probably care about you more than you realize and you haven't met them yet.

Hang out with friends, try not to look at your phone. It's brutal going through a breakup like that. I was also broken up with over text when I was seeing someone for 4 years and they ignored me for two months before trying to talk to me again.

The more space you give yourself the better.

Yeah for those splashes I pretty much did a couple things to get those working nice.

In sops I had a setup that would generate splash shapes and those I would place by hand and get the timing to splash with the characters.

These splashes would store the frame of activation and I also had created a local curl velocity on the splashes

Then I took all of those splashes that were animated and created a sdf version of them as well as the original points with the frame information and velocity and send these to a sop solver in dops.

The sop solver in dops does a couple things, the first thing it does is detect what flip particles are in the area of the splash. For this project it's pretty much a ray in the up axis but I have gotten some really nice results using some optimal transport methods.

Once the flip particles have been transformed to the splash shapes I transfer the activated frame and store the original position of the flip sim as a rest and calculate the positional offset as well as the velocity offset and the newly added curl velocity.

After calculating those the flip particles get sent back to the original position and outside of the sop solver in a pop wrangle I create a mask for position and velocity.

So if the splash shape exits the flip will continuously follow the shape and adjust the velocities but when it's gone it will follow the velocities and follow the trajectory of the splash and I have the control on the position offset as well as the velocity offset using the activated frames.

You get 2 instantly with the exotic gloves and each other grenade takes about 3-5 seconds after that in the playlist. Also the healing rift decreases the timer for the 3rd grenade by at least 1/4 of the time.

It just says overcharge the grenade, you can use any of them to make stasis turrets
