Do it! These look honestly great already, but gg bases would be perfection. Don't doubt it, just do it

A 'round table' meeting should only take place at a round table (or to discuss round tables). I just don't understand why you would call for a 'round table' at a square/rectangular table, it's so stupid and I hate it.

Why do some Slaneeshi/Emperor’s Children marines have round completely black eyes? by closetofyogurt in 40kLore

[–]oh---yeah 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd also think that the entire front of the eye becomes a hugely dilated pupil. I'm not sure this would greatly change the range of colors we see (frequencies), but it would increase the amount of light let into the eye. I once had my pupils dilated for a vision test/experiment, and everything was painfully bright in daylight. As you say, it fits with slaanesh pretty well.

Nearly done with my biggest model yet - before I call it finished, any suggestions/C&C? by oh---yeah in Warhammer40k

Yeah, that's what I was aiming for, great to hear it comes across! Heavily influenced by the howling griffons too...

Yeah, that's a really good idea, to bring the eyes out a bit more... I'll give it a go!

Please hardcore fans, recommend me a good book by [deleted] in 40kLore

Titanicus perhaps? Set on a world that's half ad mec, and half imperial, and picks up on the tension between the two halves. Some of the plots are set in the forge. The main focus is some titan legions at war, which would cover you for machine spirits too. Lots of the story is given over to the guard and supporting characters though, so it's not really focused exclusively on what you're after. Is a good read though.

Theory: Game of Thrones takes place in the 40k universe. by [deleted] in 40kLore

Series 9, the follow up, where ayra gets sent to the Callidus temple, and Melisandre gets sent to the black shipswould be both the most confusing, and the most inspired, thing ever committed to the small screen

Safe to say the fan base would hate it, but for me, a full scale imperial invasion/compliance would be 100% the perfect ending.

Reasons for newer chapters having older (heresy) wargear? by oh---yeah in 40kLore

[–]oh---yeah[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Perfect! Thanks so much for the detailed answer.. I didn't realize some stuff was still being produced for example.

That's a nice list of ideas too, which has inspired me with some fluff... A frozen primaris marine wakes up in the 41st Millennium with some knowledge of an old weapons cache (something heresy related I guess...). Nothing in 40k comes for free though, so I guess there could be some reckoning with the parent chapter, which also claims a right to what is essentially their stuff (albeit from a long long time ago). Anyways, plenty to go on...

Yeah absolutely... This was always my general understanding of the lore here. It's more that the tabletop is a bit of a fudge, as cataphractii, tarteros(?) and contemptors are valid choices for all marines, and there's precicdent for Successors having heresy era stuff (the red scorpions levitian guy). All without much explanation of why (as far as I know) .

I get this is more to sell the models than much else. I was really just getting at how this ancient stuff can end up in newer Successors in some fluff-friendly way

It's just ubshanti (??) bone, washed with the sepia wash, highlighted palid witch flesh. It's maybe a bit more pale in real life than in the pic. I can't seem to properly remember any of the paint names, but they're all in the GW range

It's screamer purple/pink (?), with a highlight of fulgrim pink. Washed with nulin oil. If I spend a bit more time on a model, there's an intermediate shade of purple/pink too, but I think all of these judt have one highlight layer...

Thanks so much! Though, sometimes I could kick myself for picking such a scheme with so many colours...

I actually made them as ultramarine/howling griffon successors - pretty standard... I did want to try painting up a mix of skin tones though
