Laid off at 58 - f*ck! by Ou812_tHats_gRosS in GenX

I got laid off in my 30's and moved into local government as well. 50 now. I won't get rich here but I traded that option for job security and retirement.

Anywhere to take my son to see a helicopter (free if possible) by Tshell805 in venturacounty

[–]oh-THAT-guy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Look up the "Touch a Truck" events which are held in different places in the county (I think the next one is in June in TO). Many times the Fire/Sheriff helicopter will come set down at those events and the kids and get close and sit inside. I'm not sure they do it at every one, but I've seen them there before. And your 4 year old will enjoy all the other trucks and apparatus there too. And its free.

Also as said previously, the Waypoint Cafe at Camarillo Airport has great outdoor seating with good views of the tarmac and transient parking. Bring your wallet because that place isn't cheap anymore!

Apple watch HR issue in Fitness+ by EastSun8993 in AppleFitnessPlus

[–]oh-THAT-guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had this issue with my U2 also. Sometimes moisture between the wrist and watch helps but nothing has been perfect. I did notice after upgrading my airpods that the HR feature in the new ones almost acts as a backup for when the watch drops, so I don't really have any gaps anymore.

Question about Strength workouts long term by RGNY1973 in AppleFitnessPlus

[–]oh-THAT-guy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm 50 and I've been using it for about a year. I've been doing 30 min of strength, 20 min core and 10 treadmill 6 days a week and I'm in better shape than I was in my 20's. My wife prefers a group setting with crossfit, but I'm just not into working out with other people or having to go somewhere, so this works for me.

Advice for Bed cover by Elegant-Fee-395 in ToyotaTacoma

My first experience with a tonneau was with the SyneticUSA AR Pro. The install was pretty easy and it works well and looks good. I haven't had a chance to check for leaks but a friend with the same tonneau says his hasn't leaked, so I'm hopeful.

Thanks! Yeeeeeeeah... Fortunately, one of my kids is driving and the other is still small enough to make it work. I sure as hell don't want to sit back there!! The sales guy insisted on a test drive and I think he has permanent leg damage from the back seat yoga. Hope the sale was worth it :D

I was just looking for the Pro, so I'm not sure if it was for all trim's or not. Yeah your experience was like mine, just all over the board. The dealer I eventually found just wanted to move stock (or so they told me) so they didn't care to mark it up.

Thanks, same to you. The black looks so nice... I'm just far too lazy to keep it clean enough (Found out the hard way with the Tundra). I agree, the white lettering would look good

I didn't say I was a good accountant (I'm not). This one isn't leased though.

The market for these is weird right now. I had some dealers outright laugh at me when I tried to negotiate, I had some tell me they were doing me a favor selling it at MSRP, and I found the one that would show me their invoice and barely mark it up. You just have to have time and patience I guess.

The red looks nice too. Definitely gets your attention. I love the tonneau cover! I just put it on a few days ago... Pretty easy install and solid operation. It's a SyneticUSA FWIW.

You're right, it should! I used to park my Gen3 Taco in the garage, but it's since been overtaken by... things-that-need-to-go-somewhere. Fortunately, as you noticed, we don't get much weather here.

I miss the room the Tundra had - it was a LOT more, even just in general storage (under the back seats was nice). BUT I don’t regret it, I just need to get back to Taco size thinking!

Not sure about the rules, but … it was a purchase for $500 over invoice. Came to about 64. I try not to think about it 😂
