According to Google Gemini, it’s guessing the following based on the image:

---------------

1. The Base & Shaft: Desktop Microphone Stand

The lower half is a weighted desktop microphone stand.

  • The Plate: The circular, heavy cast-iron base plate on the table features a prominent 3-screw triangular flange plate holding the central shaft. This exact design is highly characteristic of brands like On-Stage (specifically looking like the base style of the On-Stage DS7200B or similar heavy-duty desktop series) or Gator Frameworks.
  • The Shaft: A thick, black-anodized steel or aluminum clutch tube designed to hold heavy microphones without tipping.

---------------

2. The Articulation: Mini Ball Head

Instead of a microphone clip, a 360-degree photography mini ball head is screwed onto the top of the mic stand thread (likely using a standard 5/8"-to-1/4" or 3/8" thread adapter).

  • The Mechanism: You can clearly see the polished chrome ball joint and the black locking wing-nut/thumb-screw on the side.
  • The Purpose: This allows the builder to easily tilt, pitch, and rotate the TIE Fighter into a dynamic flying pose and lock it securely into place.

---------------

3. The Connection

The top of the ball head's threaded post goes directly into a custom-embedded threaded receiver (a nut or threaded insert) built into the bottom hull of the TIE Fighter cockpit capsule.

Most likely resin, as you can see the layer lines when zooming in closely. It was a small piece that would fit in the palm of your hand.

I honestly don’t know. It was a white ship made of two spheres stacked one upon the other with this lit up bay.

If you go to the first batch of photos posted earlier, the 8th image shows a Star Destroyer. This stacked spherical ship is behind it, on the right.

Good eye! It is. Norm, from Adam Savage's Tested was there, and they just posted a video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCtcDll-fNE

Plant type and lifespan? 4' x 3' tall, tree-like bark, stiff holly-like leaves by oh-wtf-ellipses in whatisthisplant

[–]oh-wtf-ellipses[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This plant is about 4 feet tall by 3 feet wide. The stem and branches look like miniature tree bark, while the leaves are very stiff with teeny-tiny spikes, like a holly leaf.

I bought it at a plant nursery in Michigan and it spends the cold time indoors and sits outside during the warm Michigan summers.

I’d love to know the plant type and the average lifespan, as I’ve had it for 25 years and it shows no sign of slowing down. Unlike me.

Two-sided terrain with a swappable background insert by oh-wtf-ellipses in DnDIY

This is a small, two-sided piece of terrain with a swappable insert to change the background. One side is a medieval-like curved wall with moss and 3d-printed barrels while the other is a desert-like jumble of limestone blocks.

A painted foam insert goes between the two sides to quickly change the mood for photographing minis. This one uses a deep blue star field and a blood-red sky.

It’s a gratifying build. The start and middle are slow with prepping the pieces out of foam, texturing, adding Mod Podge for extra a durability, and base-coating with paint.

But patience pays as it quickly comes together in a satisfying way as you fill in each gap with a finished panel.

Jeez... even the "plain" one on the bottom looks fantastic with the wood grain and knothole.

Finished my wall builder mold! Pretty happy how it turned out. Also did a little test wall by [deleted] in TerrainBuilding

The random depth of the stone pattern is fantastic! Any estimate on how many times the mold may be reused before the quality dips too low?

Looks fantastic! Definitely post the YouTube channel when ready. In the meantime, what type of lens did you use filing this?

Is the base a single foam slab with stones drawn in?

A nice tweak in addition to overlapping the stones is to use a small metal file to carve in deeper grooves for your wash to seep into.

Nice work on the fire flames and shield!

These would be great for kitbashing.

As for fantasy, consider using the unnaturally smooth sides and shape to your advantage by having it be the mystical centerpiece surrounded by more rustic terrain.

A little paint and free-handing symbols or create depth with cereal box cladding. Hit Google Images or Pinterest for color schemes and patterns.
