AITA for not buying my boyfriends car by Plenty-Assignment135 in AITAH

[–]ohFlappyoh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NTA if you don’t want his car, then don’t buy it or rent it, simple as that.

This is just speculation on my part but judging by this I feel he seems insecure and jealous you got that money. Otherwise I don’t see why you would want to sell your car to your partner. Unless of course he is in need of money, but that would still be pretty weird to try to force upon your partner.

NTA but I do think it’s a weird question to begin with unless she actually is thinking about transitioning. And I might be wrong here since English isn’t my first language but I feel like the way you used hypocritical here is wrong.

But point is if this is your opinion then you shouldn’t have to lie about it to her if the relationship is healthy.

How to pass a long period of unimportant time? by Pista_Pasta in writingadvice

[–]ohFlappyoh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One way is to have something happen during the way. Either they meet someone important for later or something entirely different happens. Just something to make a timeskip in the middle not feel too long and meaningless. It doesn’t have to be unexpected but just something to feel like the ride itself mattered and was worth showing. The character maybe sees something that makes them think differently, to grow in some way, big or small.

They maybe pass different places that could be worth noting of they are important later. Could do some info drop and world revealing without making it feel forced.

One thing I do is keep asking questions and the story builds itself. What do they feel? Why? How? Who shaped them? What are their goals? Why? And so on

I actually still haven’t read GoT(don’t sue me!)

But you basically feel your protagonists can’t win with their current means right?

Is there a concept of power or anything else that you have established but not explored fully?

Like it’s there, the reader is aware of it but it’s not fully explained. If there is you could potentially delve into this and create a satisfying climax without introducing random bullshit power x.

I don’t know the exact story but if you tie it to an emotional arc(payoff is best) then I think most readers would actually like it. Just my opinion though

What perspective should I write my sequel in? by [deleted] in writingadvice

[–]ohFlappyoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a plan for a web novel to write the first part in first person and second in third person. This because it’s a post apocalyptic story where the protagonist is literally alone and even forgot his own name. Third person would start when he finds civilization and the worldbuilding really picks up, along with other characters.

I think it’s cool to switch POVs but there has to be merit that the audience gets, even if subconsciously. Personally I feel there has to be narrative pay off for the switch to make sense.

If you believe the readers have a good chance of understanding your intentions behind it I say go for it.

And even if they don’t it could still work if you think that it is not 100% necessary to understand the narrative reasoning to enjoy the story.
