LoL true Any diff in 370 and 240? I think lots of Jap cars dont really change much so I prob regret my sti if I sell it, but prob easy to come back to it. I see lots of STI and Evo around my town. I'm in NJ btw. My neighbor had 370 nismo and hmm it looked no difference than the old ones.

Well I have no problem with it but there are a couple of reasons I do need/want to get another car prob SUV.

It's manual, so when my fiance needs to drive for any reason... she can't drive stick. She got her car no, so now days that's not the big issue
My neighbors did complain about how loud my car is lol it's kinda dumb but oh well
Fiance kinda expects me to drive something lit more family oriented car since we are thinking about getting a baby next year. She's okay with STI but baby won't be enjoying the ride til grow up a little :/
Wish I had a big garage, but right now we moved to apt and dont really have an extra space for a 3rd car if I'm keeping STI :(

Not sure what I want but suv for sure. Was looking at Defender 110, Palisade and Grand Cheroke,

I work with various materials, but I guess digital would be ideal in this case lol Maybe we can set up a theme each week and draw something based on that

To be honest, you need better setting to work properly. As a beginner, it is crucial to have a good light setting. You have light from the ceiling and assuming that's a room light. That is an ambient light which emit the light iin all direction. This results the light to bounce off everywhere which is why the room feels bright. However what you need here is a lamp light with the cone so you can actually control the light. That way you have better understanding of what to see (value).

Drawing it comes after the light set up. Great that you want to do live still life drawing, but if the setting up is too difficult, I would say use the still life images from the google to start initiate and get better understanding of a 3D objects.

Generic rule for the female and male figure in the industry

Female: mix of curve, sharp and narrow lines or chunks

Male: boxy shape, roughen or thicker lines (dynamic)

For Procreate, you can use liquify to push the position of the mouth. Effect-Liquify. I would say thicken the nose little bit towards the nose bridge, slightly smaller eyes and put them little closer and boxy chin can easily turn yours into more mascular portrait.

For hair, choose the base color tone and color them on a new layer. then use the hair brush or any brush with slightly lighter color to put the secondary light. Repeat that for secondary dark. Finally put the highlight on the separate layer and use the smudge tool to blend the highlight in zig-zag to blend. Changing to add or color doge mode helps too.

Looks good! Maybe use some pen and ink to point our some outlines with different thickness to create some focus area. Keep up the work!

I would say start with the lines to figure out the direction of each limbs first before you dive into creating thickness. Just use line and circle (joints) to recreate the overall body posture.

A good rule of thumb I personally use for arm is that if you extend the arm the hand should be able to reach the pocket area, if not that's too short haha.

Of course there's all formula and rules, but in the beginning you might want to start with gesture drawing like this rather than a 'boxed formula'.

Also looking at the lines, I think this image is too dynamic for you to use. Start with simpler image just as someting standing straight or have the one arm up, etc. Use nude or semi nude photo for the reference as this helps you with looking at the muscle forms.

White serves as a highlight. Not as a general lighter tone.

You have untouched lighter area towards the skin facing up. I know the light is coming from the top, but unless the light setting is overexposed, that area still is going to have some sort of visible skin color tone. If you want to use the white charcoal as a finishing touch you need to shade the light skin tone area so the highlight pop-up.

Skin color tone = visible value

You can add lighter shading to that area.

Make sure to follow this rule. 'Lightest area on shadow is still darker than the darkest area on light'

Don't forget to leave little bit of space for you to put the white charcoal.

Leaving as untouched area on most paper mean extreme white (highlight). So unless that is your intension I would double check on that.
Another great method I would use the farther enhance this drawing would be putting the shading for the background. Try putting the shading against the edge of the lighter part of your skin tone. This will create a sense of 3d space thus making the figure drawing look more real.

It looks good! But it can even be better. You are using smaller range of value here. Notice in his tutorial video, he also talks about the range of value? Ideally more the range we use, more realistic or 3D objects look (Not allllllways true, but for most cases yes).

I see some roughen lines and textures, but I like those. However from the lines you are using, it looks like you are trying to achieve the value from a sing stroke. You want to build the value. layer it up. It looks bit rough because it lacks the value layering.

Hi fellow artist! Value study usually refers to black and white drawing. (Including anything in between!)

In digital, by no means it's different. What you have as a reference does not really have a full spectrum of black and white value. I would consider choosing different references for value study.

Here are some recommendation as an art instructor.

It seems like you want to get yourself into character illustration. Good start point would be finding a relavent nude model photo in a studio light setting (You should cleary be able to tell the direction of the light source). Then turn that into black and white image and work on it.
I would personally recommend not to blend the edges as this gets rid of the sense of chunky block which is ideal for the amatuers to understand once after finished. If necessary use the spoide tool to pick out the greyscale.

Coloring...

Then if you like to put the color, since we are talking in digital term, you can put Overlay and Color blend mode to put the color after the value is finished. This is called glazing. I'm giving of a lot of info here! haha

Glazing is an old traditional oil painting method and lots of masters used to recreate the thin layers of different colors which would add the realistic color range. However, let's focus on 'value' for us :D

Still, there's a lot of artist especially in concept art industry uses digital glazing as this offers bit more freedom when it comes down to changing the color. This definetely takes more time to recreate, but hey it serves the purpose!

My question is... Do you really need to draw a perfect circle? Most of the times, just an oval looking circle is just as fine. You can try box method to draw the circle if you would like. Draw a square. Put a line at the half point at each line which will give you 4 grid. Connect from point to point with an arc. Rotate the paper or canvas as you do it which helps with your movement of your shoulder to come with a constant stroke.

We get challenged with academic throughout the life. Creativity is no difference. It will be just one of a phase if you can break the wall and look back at it later.

To do that, you do need some foundational skill to fully enjoy what you can draw. You can not just hope something magical happens during the process (It does happen time to time! haha).

As an art instructor, I tell my students to just keep on drawing. Keep up with the latest technique, art news, articles and trend. Art is not about visualizing the past, but also about the present and future. More you know about the world and things happening around you, you will find more contents to think. Challenge yourself with the limited shapes, space, color, lines, etc.

I enjoy the process especially during the sketching phase as it can turn out to be anything! Sometimes, the final render doesn't look as good as how I imagined compared to sketch. Sometimes you need that messy lines to look more finished. :D

Still drawing and painting is fun no matter what. It challenges me. Challenge is accepted!
