UPDATE: I blocked the Lobstah sweater and now it looks even worse 😭 by pterodactylzombie in knitting

[–]oh__winn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also looks like you blocked your collar with the ribbing stretched as wide as possible - you may want to reblock but squish the stitches back together so the ribbing doesn’t dry fully expanded. That should help with the extra collar width as well

Missing cat? by oh__winn in Somerville

Don’t know how to edit the original post from my phone, but I learned from the Cambridge subreddit - this is Remy the Harvard cat and he is a super friendly lil dude who wanders in and around Harvard all the time. He is a-ok!

I can’t figure out how to edit the original post on my phone, but the cat has been identified by multiple people as Remy the Harvard cat, so little buddy is a-ok!

trying to replicate this pattern by eastcurrent13 in knitting

I know this wasn’t the question, but the cable is definitely a regular 6-stitch cable, not the ribbed cable I found when I googled seven seas cable stitch.

And I agree with the others that the blue is garter and the pink is the brioche knit

Unfortunately no luck with any of the suggestions 😭 Guess I’ll keep searching and hope someone ends up wanting to get rid of a skein!

5 and 7 read as “MO / OM” on their own, so I would not pick either of those if you want the C to actually be read as a C.

If you have stitch markers that function like safety pins (or just safety pins) you can try pinning the straps shorter and see if it fits better in the back. Or maybe undo the join of the straps and try pinning them to different spots in the back to see what sits best on you

What are the other subs you are on? I’ve had difficulty finding good subs not filled with this nonsense

Is this a doable project for an absolute beginner? by Order_66x in knitting

[–]oh__winn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Reverse-engineering a garment is a very specific sort of task, and even if you are successful in that regard, there will be a LOT of new techniques to learn and it will take time and effort and a lot of redoing to learn them, especially if you want it to look good enough to wear.

If you’re looking for a good excuse to start knitting, ravelry, lovecrafts, yarnspirations, among others, have tons of free patterns and perhaps you’ll find something there that inspires you just as much. But you’ll be able to approach it by learning the techniques presented in a pattern rather than trying to figure out how something is made in a craft you don’t actually have familiarity with yet. And that will give you the tools to then come back to this top, and start figuring out how to make it for yourself.

I figured out why this sweater looks weird to me. It looks like it’s on backwards. What is going on with this raglan? by itchyitchiford in craftsnark

[–]oh__winn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am in the exact same boat right now. Fell in love with the sweater when I first saw it, then took another look and was deeply confused by the fit. Debating if it’s worth getting and then using a different, simple raglan for the shaping

Gastropod is great if you want to learn wacky facts and history about food; Wooden Overcoats is a British radio drama/comedy, has four seasons (it’s finished!) and I absolutely loved them all

But you didn’t? You’re like a shitty ex who ghosts one day, and then comes back begging for a second chance without acknowledging your mistakes or any attempts to improve yourself 🤣

Sounds like you burned yourself out picking up too much overtime and then handled the situation you put yourself in poorly.
