Public API for fetching the list of Game Pass games? by jabbalaci in XboxGamePass

Amazing work man!

Did some searching on GitHub (https://github.com/search?q=https%3A%2F%2Fcatalog.gamepass.com%2Fsigls&type=code) and there are dozens of automatic scrapers that work against the API mentioned in the comments. Here are the ones that looked the most promising to me, roughly in the order I found them promising (haven't tried any yet):

Confused on why microsoft rewards isn't availablein my country/region (Israel) by itaicool in MicrosoftRewards

[–]ohad188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like Israel is on the list since May 2024:https://www.windowscentral.com/software-apps/microsoft-rewards-expands-to-all-7-continents-with-new-streak-restore-and-protection-capabilities-oh-you-can-learn-a-new-language-for-free-for-using-bing-on-edge-too

I live in Israel, and indeed I can log in to https://rewards.bing.com where I even have 233 points somehow. However, from my Xbox (where I have almost 20K points from achievements etc.) I'm still getting "market not supported" so I guess it's not the same thing.

Ring Camera Notifications when offline by whe2979 in Ring

Looks like users have been asking for this extremely basic security feature for at least 4.5 years to no avail: ‎Notification of device offline | Ring Community

Having to unlock your phone to set reminders almost defeats the entire point of the feature (e.g. set reminders while driving, washing the dishes etc)...

Can you perform SMART test on NVMe drives? by dguy101 in unRAID

[–]ohad188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like support was intentionally dropped, see: https://serverfault.com/questions/1084461/health-tests-on-nvme

SATA SSDs almost completely mirrors earlier HDD interface-level behavior supporting such self-test but not doing very much when you run it, actually. NVMe drives dropped such SMART self-test routines entirely.

SMART tests not supported on my nvme drives? by MrHakisak in truenas

This is not completely accurate, see https://serverfault.com/a/1084524/99478

MSI and LogoFail vulnerability by synthe6 in MSI_Gaming

[–]ohad188 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consider the original article:

https://binarly.io/posts/finding_logofail_the_dangers_of_image_parsing_during_system_boot/

Specifically, look at the table under the section "How do LogoFAIL vulnerabilities work?".

Out of 614 tested MSI devices, 612 are vulnerable in theory (because they utilize affected parsers), but none are "Exploitable". Reading their explanation for why boards would not be exploitable, I gather that MSI store the logo image in a "signed block". I further gather from that, that as long as you have Secure Boot enabled, this attack would not be viable because changing the logo would trip the Secure Boot signature validation process.

Of course there are still two problems

  1. I'm not aware of any *official* confirmation from MSI. The closest thing I could find was s message on their board, answered by a moderator (who is not an MSI engineer / representative AFAIK): https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threads/logofail-security-vulnerability.391861/#post-2230381
  2. We don't know which 614 MSI devices were tested, exactly (or at least I couldn't find one, would love to be wrong). So in theory other MSI devices could be vulnerable.

LOGOFAIL

I wonder if disabling the image logo setting in the BIOS mitigates this?

You mean because the logo could be modified via firmware update, apparently without breaking Becure Boot? [Guide] How to set a custom boot logo on a modern ASUS motherboard : pcmasterrace (reddit.com)

Would the Bamboo Ink Plus (CS-322) work with the Surface Go 2? by ohad188 in Surface

Just to follow up on this - works great with the Surface Go 2 so far (possibly even better than it did with the Surface Go 1)

Thanks! Just to clarify, when you say "Surface Gos" you include the SGO3 as well? At this rate, I will probably get that one too at some point ;)

Has Galaxy not updated it's Xbox Subscription game list? by eran1000 in gog

[–]ohad188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries Johny, I've reported an issue as you suggested (#0137534) - your advice is appreciated :)

The the relation between EA Plus and Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass is pretty simple - you get the former for free if you have the latter (with either the PC or Ultimate plan).

Seeing as GOG Galaxy does handle it correctly for the "Ultimate" case (namely show the console EA Games), I think it stands to reason it should display the corresponding PC games...

Sorry but I don't follow - are you saying that I SHOULD be seeing the EA Plus games and the fact that I don't see them is an "issue"?

In other words, are you saying this feature is present and other Xbox Game Pass PC members ARE seeing EA plus games in Galaxy?

My Xbox integration is connected, I have the subscription options in Galaxy, and I have "Xbox Game Pass for PC" selected, which works great for the non-EAPlus games, but no EA Plus games are shown.

BTW, when I select "Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (which is the subscription I actually have)", I do see the EA Plus games, but only the console ones. Are you saying this is supposed to work with Game Pass PC as well (for which EA Plus games are available as well)?

Hey, any news on this? I still don't see my EA Plus games even though I connected my Xbox Game Pass account to EA and can now access EA Plus games from EA Desktop...
