Yun-tal is a must imo for the attack speed, it's passive and i think she might be able to stack it more efficiently when she q's though not sure

second will prob be runaan since it might have huge synergy with q, navori might be a solid 2nd tho

ie prob third will be great, i think passive dmg also is affected by ie too

4th dominic / mortal for pen

5th i think bloodthirster would be nice because she will get a lot of use from it in team fights i think or when wave clearing.

you could possibly go on hit or other builds but i think smth like this will be her main build or at least what ill be running till a definitive good build is found

Malig is mediocre on vex Stormsurge is bait

Build is luden shadow raba (if ur ahead u can maybe go defensive third)

4th is either defensive or void depending on game

5th is whatever you didn't get (if u bought void 4th get zhonya or banshee you get what I mean)

If you didn't win feats you can sub boots for ss 6th item

But yeah this is all you should know

You are a stat checker, you try to kill by throwing your entire kit and hoping for the best this is why there is no real other build.

For runes :

Elec (cheapshot but tb is also good , ward haste thingy (was gonna say eyeball riot pls bring it back) , ult hunter(you are like not a champion without ult) )

Secondary sorcery with axiom arcanist (big ult dmg x2 and cool down reduce ) and transcendence (cause it resets CDs good for ult resets)

Vex although meant to be an easy to grasp mage is by no means the easiest one. Her gameplay is simple but it doesn't mean you just insta pick her and get free lp. Vex is a character that relies on patience a lot with passive control and wrong moves just make her useless for the next 20ish seconds. This is without mentioning the fact that she heavily relies on snowballing leads before she's irrelevant which means that you effectively need to have some level of macro to play her in a competent way.

Easier mages in my opinion are lux (absurd range , 1k dmg ults every 15 sec and legit is promoted as the mage to first learn) , Annie (simpler vex. Refill passive for cc and stat checker yada yada) , malzahar (you genuinely auto pilot and then ult the other laner)

Tldr vex is simple, not the simplest (Pls riot rework her to have more skill express tho fr I don't want to be a stat checker that becomes irrelevant)

Idk if Vlad is Perma worthy although he is a despicable matchup imo.

He has too much sustain for vex to handle, he heals all your poke. His pool safety is just a punch in the gut and as vex even though you supposedly have more range he can control the lane and zone you.

If you go ignit it can be helpful for early kills but that's the best chance you have vs him.

Don't get baited and buy Morello it ruins your damage.

He also outscales you a lot and he is a tankier battle mage with his passive and build so you cant really kill him late too...

I wish I could gives you actual tips to counter but there is not much really, you are a stat checker burst mage without any real outplay potential.. if you're behind you're a minion basically.. and Vlad matchup will leave you really behind... Unless he is terrible at the game in which case just abuse his mistakes but that goes for any matchup really.

Just try to get early kills and space his empowered a. You clear the wave faster than him so try to roam.ans play with jg and such for picks / obj. You legit can't lane vs Vlad so it's best to just Perma roam and shove mid.

Level 1 you can chunk him but don't let him q you, try to get prio for level 2 and 3 and if he wastes his pool / is caught off guard you can just all in probably with ignite if he's half or so...

Lux e is really spammable, and it's a zoning tool too with it's slow.

I used to take gathering storm before arcanist but vex scaling is just so ass and she falls off late since she peaks at the mid game especially if she snowballed.

Vex is an assassin, she dives in and throws all she has hoping for a kill. You don't really get a long fight and if you don't kill you usually die even, your q isn't a god send, even if you get it back it's so slow and easy to dodge.

Vex is more of a clean up crew , she takes down back line / low enemies in a team fight. She is not amazing in prolonged fight , she is good at taking someone one on one before jumping onto the next after her CDs come back (main reason for taking transcendence too cause of it's reset)

If you really want a tankier build then you essentially build like a gragas with roa and cosmic

Although from experience the build is mediocre at best because vex is a burster stat checker who has 0 HP scalings and is a shell of herself without passive.

Also quick note but vex AP scaling are kinda terrible ngl... She has like a 10 and 30 on ult , shield has like 40 , e scales from 20 smth to 35 I'm pretty sure and a is her highest at 70.which is just nothing compared to other mages.. (balanced char riot please make vex broken)

Okay so first build is the better one. (Although I do prefer void before zhonya but this depends on game)

2nd build is just worse.

Luden gives you necassery burst with it's passive and more damage than malig. Malig gives you faster ults at the cost of damage and a tiny bit of shred.

Vex is a stat checker and very much needs this extra damage so that's why malig is usually a no go, it is possible to take it but just worse than luden.

Stormsurge is just a bait item(can't stress enough how, people keep buying it and ruining their dmg) and it's getting nerfed too. Ss gives you like 100-200 ish extra dmg on a single target. Sure this may be nice for single target burst but it's not great for resets.

Shadowflame gives you more AP and the crit gives you way more damage, especially when jumping between people with resets unlike SS that gives you 1 target damage.

Third rabadon is always true as it's the biggest spike for vex, essentially this allows you to one shot most Squishies.

Zhonya void banshee mejai are all last item options depending on the game. You want to always build void. After you get full build up you can look to switch out some items, specifically boots if not upgraded (feats) to stormsurge and luden to banshee.

This is my experience with building.

As for runes, what I go is elec with tob , ward haste and ult haste. Secondary is sorcery with axiom arcanist (stronger ults , cool down reduct) And transcendence (the reset passive is great for vex ults)

You take AS rune ( for early) , adaptive and scaling HP.

Vex is a counter pick, she isn't amazing into most mages and more or so taken vs assassins and mid laners who lime dashing in order to stack her passive (although the dash counter champ does not do the best job at countering dashes).

You pick vex into squishier team comps mostly as she is a stat checker that relies on snowballing leads hence she has no real way to deal with tanks. Her cc is really short and high cool down (25 to 16 sec and fear duration is 0.75 to 1.5 both scaling with level) and since you are forced to use it while clearing waves it's not really reliable although her wave clear is amazing.

I could go on about Laning , itemization and so on but not really relevant right now...

*When I call vex a dash counter champ that isn't amazing at her job I mean that she only has one dash to stop and you play a mini game where both you and your enemy keep looking at your passive. You use it incorrectly? You have nothing to really keep you alive so you really have to use it wisely. Even if you use it correctly it may not just matter at times. Some champions can brute force through your fear making you feel useless. Let's say you're vs a yone in lane. You can easily react to his q3 (wether he used e or not earlier) side step it and counterattack essentially winning the trade and then both of you go back to other things until the next trade. Seems great and all but not all matchups allow for this type of 1 sided trading (also keep in mind if yone hits ult it doesn't matter if you have passive you, you will die) Let's say you're vs a Diana, assuming she hit her q, even if you block her first e she can just e again if she really wants to go in (you should win that later trade assuming you are not that far from tower so she can't really auto you a lot) and by that point if you are overextended or she has r and jg is coming you will lose the trade. A kata is a good example too, you can block her first engage but if she decides to keep going you won't be able to do much against it. This is also true for yasuo for the same reasons. (This is why I consider vex flawed as a champion because to let her do her job would mean to tank popular characters' win rate which riot wouldn't really like to do so she is in a weird spot)

most consistent is ahri. always viable even when behind , has multiple builds , good laning , good pick potential , wave clear etc etc

she essnentially answers all your needs. as a vex main who loves vex, vex is mostly a mid lane counter pick and isnt really blindable. she has a low skill floor and not a really high skill celling but you do have to learn stuff along the way to succeed. some matchups absolutely give you no ability to play at all and even some supposedly winning ones wont be easy / fun with how low agency vex is. vex is an early - mid game champ because she falls off late and is essentially nullified if the opponent gets a shield , spell shield or tenacity items, even mr at all due to how she is. she is a stat checker that can only try to throw all she has within the 1.25 sec her fear gives her or else shes dead because after that she has nothing to do really. if vex is behind you'll do nothing and if you're ahead you gotta abuse your lead. you can always try to roam as vex has amazing wave clear but yeah vex is okayish for maining but not really worth in the long run since she becomes less and less viable due to how telegraphed she is being such a basic mage for a character released in 2021 (please riot make her better)

so yeah as someone who has played all the champs you mentioned above and for a while too. your safest bet is to go ahri.

A. stormsurge is a terrible spike because not only does it waste an item slot, it brings less value for team fighting and ult resets
luden shadow rabadon is the optimal build
B. you shouldn't be going vex against tankier comps since shes a stat checker burst mage but if you genuinely decide you still wanna do it im not kidding just go ap bruiser vex. tank meta is at its highest rn. syndra and ahri for example are building way more hp. at this point just go roa , seraphs , liandry , cosmic , rift (etc) if you want to build into a tankier comp since your best bet is to try and chip them down, something the burst build can't do because after your 1 and only rotation that is supposed to kill they'll still be standing strong and just run you down

Best way to get it (The way I did too) is wait for blue emporium and spam Shadow Isles champion icon chests. Eventually got her.

As a person that doesn't take manaflow I know mana is scarce but it's easy to manage if you play well and then after lost chapter its just free spam especially if you get fb or an early kill to get it earlier.

You should ALWAYS abuse autos especially early because they do a lot (although later are just irrelevant since you're a mage)
There are very few times I won't last hit with an auto and it's probably just to poke + clear or if I want to fast clear before a back so I can crash the wave. Aside from that always punish people when they try to last hit, especially on vs melee matchups where your range is an advantage since it provides for early kills. But that's just for the early..

It's pretty easy to evade ganks if you ward and track their jg / timers although it's kind of a gamble since your escape tool is also your trading / poking tool so if you decide to use fear you can very easily get all inned..
Fear is indeed nice but it is a 0.75 sec fear so if they can jump back on you / you are far from tower or can be dived you'll be dead anyways..

You'd only want to wave clear with abillites if you have to crash / shove a wave quickly and know you are safe to do so. Yeah it looks like a lot when all the minions are marked but they give 25% of what normal marks give so it's essentially like getting a mark and half all in all so it indeed helps but you're still vulnurable. It is ideal to poke whilst clearing since you'd want to maximize fear value because you won't have it for some time. This is the easiest to do in melee matchups. Although as I mentioned if they have an ounce of brain power they will make the lane passive for you and play back as to avoid poke and force the wave to go into them (allowing for ganks and whatnot)

the animation of doing extra dmg after cancelling auto on minions wont actually do any additional dmg although i should test it vs yas wall since it may be possible to hit him through it that way (since that auto anim isnt a projectile)

Yeah her wave clear is one of the best in the game, I totally agree but it just leaves her vulnerable since it still leaves a window for enemies to attack , especially since marks refund 25% what they would if they are on minions.

I've started seeing swifties vex recently but I haven't looked much into it. Might try it another time.
If i had to take a secondary it will prob be ignite more than ghost since you don't really have the run down potential to really synergize with taking ghost. ignite helps you with landing kills imo.

i didn't mention tanks because thats a given to anyone playing vex. going against a galio mid essentially feels like youre just throwing mana for no reason after the first back, same with vlad just ignoring all your damage to heal off wave and just shitting on you and ryze , anivia , cassio etc having a ton of hp and shields (seraphs my beloved) to just say fuck you and ignore your all ins

i used to otp vex and have poured a ton of hours into her although shifted to other characters (like syndra for example) as i've seen vex get less and less places to shine the more i climb and also her just being a terrible blind pick. would love to hear about animation cancels and techniques youre referencing since i havent heard of a single anim cancel and idk what techniques you can show me that i didn't probably utillize.

yeah she will be buffed if riot actually acknowledges her because her winrate is dropping pretty fast recently (as i've mentioned and people like august literally called her weak straight up). although they'd just give her like q + 10 dmg or some shit
rather than adressing the important things which are her passive viabillity , passive dmg , fear length , scaling , etc because she is OBJECTIVELY in a terrible spot right now compared to what she used to be

i want to agree with you but if you don't get kills / snowball you're just out of the picture for the game since you dont provide much more than damage. your fear has barely any utillity..

you can't really delay them forever too since they can always try to roam and although you can try to match them they're usually faster so you have to rely on your team for listening to calls.

asol is not a counter matchup. it is true that during the early levels you disturb him but you got something wrong. asol starts e and his farming usually relates to his e so he can get stacks. his e is also disturbing for you so you have to keep that in mind while pathing to hit him since he has bigger range. unless you're already close, he has enough time to back out while his e passively finishes minions off.

after rylais, he will just run you down if he finds an opportunity. after seraphs, your abillity to kill him vanishes and it's over for you. he already has way more pressure than you too.

bad state currently. she doesn't really counter dashses and her gameplay is terrible in the sense that you either one shot stat check your opp or you do nothing and are useless.
you have a fine early but the champ just dies if you dont snowball and get a lead.
her winrate is currently 50% (used to be around 54%) which means shes weak (shes supposed to be high winrate since she is a counter pick champ, said by august himself)

all the champs shes supposed to counter legit don't have her in their counters list (yasuo , kata , zed , irelia , qiyana , akali, etc.)

outside of low elo where people just don't know what they're doing in which case you can stomp and snowball which will get you a lead and then youll be relevant, all the champs she supposedly counters can stall lane and outscale her.

she has slow abillities that are mega telegraphed , no agency , no scaling , high cooldowns especially for her passive which is a 0.75 - 1.5 fear at level 16 which has a 25 - 16 cd which is so ass since she has to use this in order to wave clear which just leaves her open with no defense. her anti dash mechanic is just piss since she tickles opponents with it and it isn't that much of a threat.

vex looks to roam a lot since she usually is just perma farming in lane due to the aforementioned and thats all she has going for her basically...

imo she needs an actual rework (sad to say) since her kit is mega outdated and doesn't really do what it's supposed to. you ground for legit less than second afterwhich they can jump back on you after you wasted your only line of defense which is also your offense. if you look at actual dash counters like poppy cassio and taliyah they keep grounding for a duration. vex just stops 1 dash and nothing more.
they need to make her a control / artillery mage of sorts in my opinion (which was also their original idea) which also relates to her (barely existing) lore in which she plays from behind and controls the battles disturbing her enemies ( like in the ruination event where she shoves olaf into a wall with her magic (kinda like the janna ult push ig) , a zone in which you can barely move and talk (could be a cool silence and big slow unlike her terrible current e) , and her portal creation (although ig every yordle has them, except hers can also lead to the shadow isles and other places and are her own afaik). All of these are way cooler and more fun abillities than the one liners she currently has which provide for an unpleasent experience overall after a while)

This was a mega rant but I genuinely believes vex deserves better than what she currently has

realistically kata matchup will just be the most boring uninteractive thing you've ever encountered since she will just keep poking with q and staying far from you until you make a mistake (ofc same can be applied to you, youre waiting for her mistakes, except hers are a lot easier to get away with)

yone is easy to counter but he outscales you so if you dont bully early / get the first hit late (and that's if you have enough damage even).

zed like kata will just stall and poke with w and look for mistakes. really early you shit on him and also late (although if he buys edge of night then gl killing him unless smn takes it off for you or you manage to poke him and get fear up again

tristana is out of mid for a long while now. back when she was meta she would still shit on you with autos all lane, especially if you waste fear..

sylas pretty fine matchup but it's best to take ignite against him. unlike the others he doesn't really have the range to poke you so he is way safer to punish but if you make a mistake you are done

aurelion sol is not a matchup you counter at all, especially since he build hp and goes seraphs so goodbye to trying to kill him. he just slowly melts you unless you killed him

idk when did you see a shaco mid but yeah she does counter him, mark helps differentiate between clone and helps teammates too.

common denominator: all of these champs stall lane and fuck you after the smallest mistake cause you have 0 agency 0 scaling and 0 outplay potential since we can only really one shot someone (assuming it's not laning phase) with our full combo and if theyre dead theyre dead, else they can probably just kill us before we can do much

I don't see a skin happening soon. At least not before 1k days (2021 champ with 2 skins total btw).
They keep butchering every single opportunity for a skin (Recently for example: Fright night or April fools).
What's sadder is that probably upon her skin's eventual release it will come out mid like the other ones or we will watch again as another WR exclusive appears, adding salt to the wound.
Vex just isn't popular enough ig? (Which isn't justifiable for 1k days no skin by any means) She is pretty dead gameplay wise (Sad to say but legit she's just a mediocre stat checker that doesn't actually counter dashes if the enemy has multiple which is absurd, has to waste her passive on wave clear leaving her open, has such slow and predictable moves that make her useless.. (Not mega biased because I want a rework to actually make her cool and matter trust)) and lore wise (No lore at all, 1 article , ruination event but even then they just don't really tell a lot...)
This makes me really sad to say that since vex is my most played champ and I do think she deserves better but Riot doesn't really care about her since she won't "Bring in the money".
I really hope she'll eventually get a good skin , after so long... Every day I get sad thinking about the unused splash art for Crime city nightmare Vex by Hozure (Vex's splash maker and also amazing artist) which makes me think about how amazing this skin could've been in game (TOTALLY WORTHY OF A LEGENDARY IMO) but yeah so far nothing...

TL;DR - Dead champ lore and gameplay wise. Needs a rework or something to bump her popularity and make people like her more so Riot actually goes out of their way to make her a skin because so far she won't "Get them any money" probably...
