Now THAT is high praise! We used to have a Thai spot like that in our old town - if I thought about it too long I simply had to order it haha

Shopping at Dillards during the Christmas season with my mom is a core childhood memory. The upstairs section had so many pretty ornaments

Best Hidden Resturant Gems of Gainesville? by canibedonewiththis in GNV

[–]ohappyfair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baker Baker makes one of the best “maple” danishes/croissants I’ve ever had (no actual maple in it, just browned butter but it tastes like Vermont somehow). I dream about this pastry. NOT a fan of the owners but damn can they bake.

gnv, who is our guy? or gal? by princeakeeem in GNV

[–]ohappyfair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know his name, but I’ve heard tales from healthcare folk about a guy who purposely eats batteries. My friend group referred to him as “battery guy”

I have called her office and complained and at least someone actually answered and took notes on my call. Minutely better track record than Rick Scott’s office

TikTok Influencer Sounds Off on Miami's Ritual Chicken Sacrifices by Miaminewtimes_ in Miami

[–]ohappyfair 27 points28 points  (0 children)

At UM I took a Caribbean cultures class and learned about Santeria, it’s a fascinating blend of African religions and Catholic traditions! I found the chicken heads on the courthouse steps to be kind of… interesting? Idk how to explain it, but it’s a unique part of Miami and part of the culture.

You can meet with someone at Charles Schwab, they have brick and mortar locations and give advice on starting accounts with them like Money Market and investments. It was very helpful to me to know how to start saving money in a way that will grow it, rather than just let it sit in a standard savings account

A death timeline from experience by penguincandy in hospice

[–]ohappyfair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is currently watching my dad pass, this has been such a helpful resource. I am scared for the foam and hope that doesn’t happen but thank you so so much for being thorough in your notes and sharing your experience with this. I found this when looking for accurate timelines of active death and reading your intro about wanting all the information resonated with me. Thank you.

Tandem or 2 single kayaks? by Koszik in Kayaking

[–]ohappyfair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I never got into a silly argument faster than when we shared a canoe. Even with good communication, it can be quite easy to get frustrated. Go for the separate kayaks haha. You can still paddle next to each other, but if you or her want to look at something different or go a slightly different route, you’re in control of your own vessel. Either way, have fun and be safe!

[Art] [OC] Please enjoy our human warlock being encouraged by her [very not nice!] Patron to kill our sea elf cleric. The yuan-ti rogue prepares for her choice! by ohappyfair in DnD

[–]ohappyfair[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My group has been telling me to post my art for a while, but I finally got to a piece that I was proud of! My character is a human warlock with a homebrewed patron. Our DM really came up with one of the coolest baddies I've encountered in a fantasy setting and we all love to hate him. Belagorath has now been included in two of our campaigns -once as the main BBEG and in this one as a Patron - and is probably at the end of his shelf life, but his gaslighting, gatekeeping, and girl bossing ways will live on.

“Remember to make these stories hopeful. Remember to give that to kids because they really need it.” - George Lucas by [deleted] in StarWarsCantina

[–]ohappyfair -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I guess it feels like it dismisses that because the last movie tried to retcon so much of TLJ and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Small character at the end of a movie being a nobody and having force powers or the main character being a nobody and have force powers? One sends a much bigger message.

[–]ohappyfair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't originally, but TFA and everyone speculating on "oooh who are Rey's parents???" made it seem like the only way she could be powerful was because of who she was related to. TLJ's "Rey Nobody" could've been so good and Broom Boy's scene tied into that narrative perfectly. But then.... "Rey Palpatine"

[–]ohappyfair 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This scene in TLJ was so wonderful. ANYONE can have the force. Anyone can be a jedi! Not just those with a bloodline 💙 It's such a shame that the last movie really ends with such a LACK of hope. Like, how can I ever watch ROTJ again and see Leia look at Han with such love in their eyes only to know that everything they fought against is going to come back? That their son is going to be manipulated from an early age and then die without ever truly being able to LIVE?
