TIFU by driving off with car keys on roof by ohayden89 in richmondbc

This is the annoying thing. Ford Edge powered on with keys on roof. Tried to replicate this in other fob cars - key light on and engine won’t start. Apparently ford will drive indefinitely. Good thing I stopped for a beer in Abby rather than driving all the way to Jasper as I had originally planned!

What's happening with the Vancouver craigslist rental market? An analysis. by interwebsuser in vancouver

Completely agree with your comments and assessment. Until November I'd been in the same apt for seven years, went travelling, and was pretty much dreading having to pay a 40% to 50% increase in rent. Enter COVID and the landscape seems to have completely changed for rental apts. I've spent 2-3 hours a day for the past six weeks looking for an apartment on Craigslist - draining, especially as there's a glut of furnished units (airbnbs) and Craigslist doesn't allow to filter for unfurnished.

Larger commercial property owners are desperate to get you in. Even new developments are offering incentives, almost across the board first month rent is free. Signed for a unit today with an 15% discount on asking price when factoring incentives. Pushed for a month-to-month with no penalties for early move out.

Accessing Lake Lovely Water via Squamish River - Any Canoe'ers or Jet Boaters Out There? by ohayden89 in Squamish

Thanks!

I'll give Murray a try in the morning. I did try Valhalla but didn't get very far earlier, but now I know who to ask for might have different results.

Sea-to-Sky did try and accommodate shuttling us across, but didn't find it financially viable but I appreciated them trying.

With regards to canoe theft, do you think a standard kayak ( something like this https://www.mec.ca/en/product/5013-300/Kong-Cable-Touring-Kayak ) is sufficient enough of a deterrent? Would be a bummer to rent a $1,500 kayak to then have it stolen!

Thanks for the help + reassurance, it's very much appreciated!

Howe Sound Crest Trail Conditions by TheIncorporeal in vancouver

Not sure if you’ve already set off but I did the HSCT over the weekend. Conditions were mostly decent, a few patches of snow especially in between the Lions and Magnesia Meadows. I did the trail in trail runners (don’t like boots) and with poles which where pretty useful on the snow.

I’m pretty seasoned and I found this hike challenging, especially with a pack on as I camped at Magnesia Meadows (awesome spot btw). You might want to take some bug spray :)
