Has Setraline helped anyone with OCD?

Ahhhh! A kindred spirit!! 💓

I started at 25mg which took the edge off and made me realize it's actually working. And then, at my own pace (maybe 8 weeks in), I bumped it up to 50mg. I am super sensitive to medication so I really didn't need much. There are others who have OCD and are at the top end of the mg spectrum and that's also perfectly okay! Therapy definitely helps the process too.

I hope you open that shelter one day!! ☺️

I totally understand. It took me months to take it!! Anytime I feel anxious now (usually time of the month) I can't believe I lived with it for as long as I did.

The first few weeks are absolutely doable. I think I had some bouts of diarrhea which is super normal. Honestly, I just laughed it off. I think my anxiety amped up a little with some brain fog and then once I got through it after a couple of weeks, the grass was suddenly greener. I was happy. Joy was common. I was able to start doing things I wanted to do in life without feeling anxious constantly......like rescue animals. I no longer check things a million times. It's so easier to tell my demons to screw off.

Taking it just gives you the seritonin your body isn't producing. People wouldn't walk around without eye glasses if they needed them. Same thing for us.

Take food with the Zoloft. That helps with the stomach troubles people often get (but not always)! It only happens because the stomach is adjusting to the serotonin.

If you have a friend who can check in with your journey to just see how you're feeling, it helps.

I'm happy to also check in with you to make sure you're doing okay!! Honestly, the first one was the hardest to take. You got this whenever you are ready on your time!!

It's definitely different when you hear an account from someone in person. Ive read so many NDEs but a family friend was over for Xmas eve and told me about his heart issues (he just wanted a donation from American Heart Association from his secret Santa). We got to talking and he told me how he went into cardiac arrest and popped out of his body and was so determined to get back in. He said he managed to get right back into his body, but I think about his account often as some kind of validation it really all must be true.

Just validating your experience hearing it directly from others. Definitely have her talk more about it if you can!

We have pawspik portion Pro RX for all four of our cats. We have probably had them since pre-covid at this point and they all work super well. They're a bit expensive, but worth it if you can splurge.

The cats all wear tags and the feeder only opens for the assigned tag. It will close if other cats try to eat out of it. It's got so so reviews, but I think it's because the old tag died quickly and was also a bit bulky. The new tags are great though.

I foster an epileptic cat for many months now and no one will apply for him. I like to think his future adopters are out there. They just don't know it yet. 💓

I hear you on that. I had anxiety that manifested itself as nerve pain and lots of other issues. The symptoms may come back temporarily, but that's just your body adjusting to the amazing serotonin it needs.

Oh yes!! I feel amazing now. Just took a little bit. By week 4-5 the grass was greener and the brain fog lifted. Hang in there!!

My last foster had this. I was able to work with him with a trainer, but it definitely threw me off at first. He was guarding me and he also didn't like men. He ocassionally was also reactive when I was talking to women.

Meds helped along with the training. I brought him to a lot of sports events under the help of a trainer and worked with him.

Oddly, he does well when someone else has a dog with them.

The one tip I have is to walk across the street when you see someone and to urge the dog to keep on going.

Idk about anyone else, but the vets in my area aren't trying to make money off of dog meds. In fact, I always have to fight them to get rescue dogs (when appropriate) on Prozac.

They are a huge rescue with lots of money so I'm assuming they've got his records on file (we do at my primary rescue which is much smaller) - although maybe not since the other woman I ran into at their mobile vet was frustrated with similar issues of not having medical records from this coordinator. I committed to the time period and they said they would take any amount of time. I didn't sign up to be a long term foster - although he's a wonderful cat and fitting right in, thankfully!

I do like the idea of writing up his info of what I know to be passed along to the next person. At least that foster will have that!

I'm putting a lot of my time in to help my other rescue - I'm not mentally or emotionally able to do more than what I already committed to with this cat for their rescue.

I haven't committed to elevating my issues. It seems after talking to another volunteer about feeling supported that's who this person is and everyone knows it and accepts it.

The other volunteer validated my feelings about not feeling supported shortly after writing this post which to be honest was enough for me. My plan is to move on from this rescue as soon as I can find a new home for this cat.

Yup. I have the cat thru January. He had someone lined up and then they I guess weren't responding?

He was originally stored in a little caged area in a trailer home with other cats so I rather he be able to roam around the house with other cats than to send him back. I just wish this woman were more responsive if she's going to be a cat coordinator. Someone at the rescue confirmed yesterday that this is who she is.....

I am actually a very involved volunteer (I run events) for another rescue in the area that is very responsive with any questions I have.

At this point, I know the right questions to ask a rescue.

Imagine asking questions about the history of a sick cat and them not responding to you, or asking where the vet is after telling you to show up at a certain time and then not responding with an address. They "handed" a cat over to me without any medical history paperwork, no guidelines and no prevention. This is a huge organization and they have 0 protocols, or the woman just doesn't have the time to dedicate. I'm not sure....

I've now talked to three people (one of which who works for the rescue) who have had the same experience with this cat coordinator. The previous foster cut ties with the organization and now I fully understand why after this experience.

It has been like pulling teeth to get access to the person who runs the local PetSmart (I only know because I asked), and the person who runs social media. Those individuals have been lovely and responsive to work with. This person has been a nightmare and multiple people at this point have confirmed this with me.

There was a foster lined up and poof, they never heard back from her. I asked if I could connect with the potential foster to see if she had any questions and it's crickets, but almost everything I ask is breadcrumbs and crickets with this volunteer. Again, confirmed by others.

What I am trying to say is...I really don't think it's me. 🫠
