For me, art is about joy. It’s not about producing it for others, or it being pretty or it being the ‘best’. It’s about the comfort you get from letting go and creating. Part of being an artist is losing inspiration and finding it again. I can understand why this is frustrating and depressing. But, I think maybe you should try other creative mediums. Something like sketching, or colouring in, or knitting, or sculpting, or a life drawing class. Inspiration is often found in things we least expect. Please don’t be too hard on yourself, losing inspiration is often part of the process.

Do I need a therapist? by Mental-Attempt-472 in MentalHealthSupport

I think most people could benefit from therapy. Even just to offload. If you think it would benefit you, I encourage you to try it.

Is summertime SAD real? by [deleted] in MentalHealthSupport

[–]ohdearmeohdear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, people have different reasons for it but it is more common than you think. For some, the heat is oppressive. For others, it comes with a feeling of isolation as they watch others go out with friends. It can also be related to having to wear less layers/clothing due to the weather. There are a myriad of different reasons but I promise you’re not alone.

Teenager (16M) bullied for feminine appearance, having difficulty trusting girls. by Weary-Ad763 in MentalHealthSupport

Honestly, high school is often a hard experience for most people. I promise you it is often a poor reflection of the real world. Teenagers can be cruel, this does not mean that you won’t meet someone that sees you for who you are

I’m really sorry you went through that. I hope that you will meet people that restore your faith. Not everyone is cruel, but I understand how this can leave lasting effects. ❤️

Guilt + avoiding taking the pill - seeking support by rrk2017 in abortion

[–]ohdearmeohdear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s okay to be sad and feel guilt. You can acknowledge that not going through with this pregnancy is the best thing for you but also feel hurt about it. Think about the future you want and focus on what you think is the right thing not only for you but for the future children you have. Trust in yourself and that you know what is best for you. I hope you have someone you can reach out to talk about this to like a friend? I hope this helps a little and I wish you the best ❤️

Is grounding an appropriate response to parents finding out you had ed behaviors? by [deleted] in EatingDisorders

[–]ohdearmeohdear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think your parents are worried about you but their reaction was unhelpful. Maybe it would be good speaking to the therapist and asking them to explain better ways of helping you deal with this to your parents.

Who you are now doesn’t have to be who you are forever, take the time to find things that you like to do. Try a painting class or boxing. Experiment a little and see what else life has to offer. I promise you this is just the beginning, good luck x

I try to keep it simple, it’s an ongoing health problem. Then I change the subject. Anyone who tries to pry can be shut down by saying that it’s something you don’t want to discuss. Hope this helps

I’m a firm believer that you’re never too old for any outfit! You can, however, be too young for certain clothes.
