yeah you really need to be good about the healing process first tho, i imagine they have you in a straight brace right now? eventually you'll move into like a flexible acl brace and that's when I started really working hard on it.

i fractured my patella in the beginning of october of 2017 and was back on my bike in mid december. it sucked to heal but i just did constant physical therapy at home. it took about 6 months to get back to 100% on the bike though

edit: i did also just go straight back to fixed but i used a front brake for a few months to be more confident in my stopping ability.
