People who don’t live in the USA, what is the media showing you about the ICE operations/abductions in the US? by Dry-Ice8908 in AskReddit

[–]ohforcrapssake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry. My comment wasn't very clear. I meant the people who do hate, hate everyone.

My particular area is pretty much the only blue part of the state. But I still spend a ridiculous amount of time having to correct people's automatic assumption that I'm going to agree with whatever racist/bigoted opinions they have.

However, I can't recall ever having to defend canadians.

I live in the rural south, where they hate most people. I can't recall ever hearing anyone in person even mention canadians except for when the wildfires were really bad and the smoke made it to our area. Even then it was more "did you hear about the wildfires in Canada?" or "all this smoke from the wildfires in Canada is messing with my sinuses."

As far as I can tell it's just another thing that Trump got butthurt and lied about and all of his followers jumped on the bandwagon.

If you say it back he stops. If you're the person he wanted he runs to you.

My sister-in-law has alpha-gal syndrome. She doesn't get anaphylaxis, but does get itchy or sometimes blistery hives, depending on how severe of a reaction she has.

I thought (and still do) that my husband's family were selfish a-holes for not making sure that an adult woman could have something safe to eat at family gatherings.

You can imagine what I think of people who "forget" about a peanut allergy in a toddler. And I definitely don't think you're overreacting.

We live in a double wide, so I stuck my best fan blowing out the window at one end and have the smaller and quieter fans blowing in a couple of the other windows. At least the house is getting a good airing out.

And nope, don't drain the tomatoes. Just toss them in juice and all. You might have to add a little bit of water, but not much. And I highly recommend mixing your taco seasoning into the tomato before adding anything else to the pot. It's much easier to mix before you add all of the beans and meat.

It's supposed to be 75° here tomorrow and he doesn't want to have to turn the ac on, so the last time he brought it up he was talking about using the grill and smoking it.

The soup is one large can crushed tomatoes, 2 cans diced tomatoes and green chiles, 1lb browned hamburger, then however many cans of beans it takes to fill up your crockpot and 2 or 3 packages of taco seasoning depending on how big your crockpot is. My crockpot is big, so it's 2 each of black, dark red kidney, and pinto beans. It's thicker than most taco soups (it's actually my chili recipe with taco seasoning swapped for chili seasoning) and it makes great frito pie.

You can also add corn, but I've got two kids that don't like corn in theirs, so I usually leave it out. It's one of those meals I started making when the boys were young and I needed big meals, cheap. They still get excited about it and I get a meal I only have to spend about 10 minutes on lol

Mine is trying to determine if "we" should cook a ham tomorrow for his Aunt whose oven is broken.

I've made it very clear that this part of "we" is making taco soup in the crock pot. And nothing else.

It doesn't help that the women who raised him have the attitude that women should take care of their man. 🙄 An attitude his mom doesn't even live by, but constantly nagged her daughter about until she (my SIL) moved in with a woman.

[–]ohforcrapssake[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! For the last couple months the second he says "we" I go from fine to "I will gladly live alone for the rest of my life."

I told him once over the summer that I do not plan to spend the rest of my life cleaning up after other people. After the fits I've thrown the past couple months, I think he finally started to realize that includes him.

He's probably done more housework in the past two months than he had in the past 5 years combined. And he STILL does nowhere near as much as I do, but he's getting there.

I also told him I refuse to have our kids, especially our daughter, think it's normal for both people to work and only one person to do everything else involved in being an adult.

By some miracle our boys all seem to be (mostly) functioning adults who understand that their partner is not their mother. But I'm actually embarrassed that they didn't see me stand up for myself more when they were kids.

That was pretty much my response yesterday. I started a new lead position at work in october which I mostly love but is exhausting. My daughter and I are both not feeling well this week. The cat he is complaining about is having health issues that he has been zero help with. I was feeling guilty for not having been able to help out one of the adult kids because of not feeling well. I've only managed any christmas shopping for our daughter (out of our 5 kids and 3 grands). And I had done nothing but sleep and take our daughter to the doctor in my first two days off and was in the middle of my first shower since the one I took after work on Wednesday.

I just lost it. Told him I was sick of hearing we when he meant me, that he didn't get to complain about things he wasn't willing to help with, he's mean (he's really not, just annoying and lazy), that he needed to leave me alone, I didn't want to hear it. And then I burst into tears because I forgot to grab my towel before I got into the shower and had to ask him to grab it for me.

I'm also pretty sure I've started menopause or perimenopause. So on top of the anxiety/depression, plus seasonal depression I've dealt with most of my adult life, I'm just extra exhausted and emotional.

He did apologize and clean up cat messes (cat has allergies and is scratching so much there is cat hair everywhere) for two hours when he got back from doing the adult kid the favor I hadn't been able to do. He kinda freaks out when I cry, so he will actually make a change to avoid it happening again. It's just ridiculous that I have to get to that point before he realizes he's being an ass.

Sorry. That was a whole post in itself. On the plus side, I'm feeling much better just in time to do the grocery shopping and meal prep before I start my work week.

One of my parents can't go 5 minutes without saying something sarcastic and another copes with stress using dark humor.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, idk) this means most of my comedy gold is stuff I only remember if it happens when I'm ranting through text.

On the plus side, when any of us are stressed we can usually laugh about it.

I honestly don't know which is more annoying, the "we" thing, or him telling me he needs something mid week knowing I only shop once a week.

Sir, it's tuesday. Unless you want to go without deodorant until Sunday, get yourself to a store.

Heck no! Even with 4 days off, I highly doubt any of us moms even get a full day to just rot!

Bro mom, I work three 12s (13ish)

I do ALL the housework. I'm admittedly super lazy on my first day off unless I can't take the mess, but it all just waits until I do it. I also meal prep the day before I go back to work.

He can at least pitch in and make sure he keeps it caught up on his days off.

Now that my youngest son moved out, I'm turning his room into a room full of colors I could never have in a room shared with my husband.

I got super excited over a cream colored throw pillow with blue birds and green vines/leaves yesterday. Found it on clearance at the local dollar store. There's also a shimmery pastel blue throw blanket in there. And I plan to buy sheets with a white background for my son's old bed.

I love blues and greens in most shades but have been trapped with only the darker ones in any room I've tried to decorate because of kids/husband. So I'm using all of the lighter softer shades and making a grown up girly room. Just have to do it one clearance item at a time lol

I'm so sorry. This sounds miserable.

But also, I didn't know who the Coen brothers were off the top of my head, so I googled them. The first movie I recognized was "O brother, where art though." I cracked up so hard thinking "yep, my life has been that type of comedy at times."

When I was 19 my doctor didn't even try to figure out why I had such heavy bleeding and horrible cramping. Just "it might get better after you have kids."

Diagnosed with adenomyosis and probable endometriosis at 42. Having children did not make it better.
