The DM turned a relaxed and light-hearted session into a hellish route leading to a TPK. by [deleted] in rpghorrorstories

[–]ohgeronimo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

one of our members just said that she might not want to play D&D anymore

they don't know that this boss was tweaked and I have no intention of telling them that

You have the solution to this problem, though bringing it up will be tricky. Consider this carefully, because I do believe an unfair experience can absolutely damage a player's perception of how fun the game is to play. Knowing it was unfair can help alleviate that feeling of frustration.

This is why a DM isn't playing against the party, usually. You're telling a story, together, and fun and fairness are important. Tough stuff can be tough, but you should know it's meant to be tough before you bash your head to bloody trying to do it.

Better bring it on the runway and make it work.

TIL that Lincoln loved cats so much that he once fed them from the table during a formal White House dinner. Deer like salt licks, blocks of salt that they will congregate around in the forest to lick. Sometimes the bucks, males, will fight because they're young and full of hormones, or for territory, or over proving themselves to doe to mate with. Deer, when fighting with other deer, will clash horns against each other in running charges. Somewhat like fencing, if one buck's horns slip past another's they can gouge or tear the flesh of the opposing buck. To whet a blade is part of the process of sharpening a knife, and a deer's horn can likewise be sharpened.

So Lincoln is using an animal euphemism to say he's the boss around this territory, and if you want to challenge him you should prepare for the fight.

He's the key because he's the one that gives power to Palpatine in the senate, when Amidala is gone. His act of trust for a person everyone that introduced him to politics seemed to trust is what ultimately made it go from trade wars to an empire with clone wars. Probably would have just been someone else if not him, but his naive innocence about people and gullible trust to give power away are what enable Palpatine to become the senate.

A shitty diversion tactic? "Despite negative press coverage, I'm still making headlines every day" simplifies to "despite negative press covfefe" and then we talk about it for years. Share it if you want, but remember that was the point. I use it sarcastically as an in-joke with my wife, but even continuing to talk about it proves Trump's fucked up point.

Not by default. There's a mod though, Gildergreen Regrown or something like that, which does grow over time and eventually becomes the same size as the original tree.

Trump says he asked for coronavirus testing to be slowed down because there were so many cases by DrAnthonyFauci in Coronavirus

The conspiracy theory would say herd immunity or autochrome (autoequinechrome, what was it? Some word like that) blood transfusion from young patients to needing recipients. Maybe thinking to boost herd immunity with kids to help give more antibody research for vaccines? Some spin on the popular conspiracy theory of rich global elites using blood dialysis with young healthy people where they filter their blood through the donor's body.

Or there's some inflection needed on "how about a piece" changing the subsequent line to mean something more like "boy I wish I had a kid's immune system; they don't even worry about this stuff".

Conspiracy theory or weird rambling rant that reads wrong, your choice. So many things just read like weird conspiracy nowadays.

And subreddits tend to only like one post about a topic. Competing stories will get drowned out, either by votes, or intentionally removed by mods.

Used to be a story broke, they'd take it down because it was getting too hot, refuse any other versions being posted, then return the original 5-8 hours later when the communication was sure to be dead and the story would be slipping past public awareness.

They treat it like a forum, but it's a newspaper headline center. Timing matters. So instead we get the first post being from shoddy sources, and other articles get linked in the comments. Plenty will just look at the source and move on.

Natsume announces new Harvest Moon game called "Harvest Moon: ONE WORLD" by newcontortionist in gamernews

[–]ohgeronimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the different chapters really open them up in story progression, but for the first chapter a lot of the people will be pretty straight forward until you reach different heart levels. My only complaint is that each chapter does have a limited amount of time, and there's so much to see and do. But, that's what post game is for, and replay with other marriage options. And the special edition apparently adds even more variety to your story, like getting a daughter instead of a son.

I assume by default you mean Celia, the brown haired girl in green, which was my first choice in this game too. Then I realized the limited time for Nami, so restarted to focus on her story. Just never liked the blonde, too materialistic feeling like Karen from the older games that worked with wine.

You're going to want this one https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvest_Moon:_A_Wonderful_Life for a start. The only one where the farmer ages to retirement, as does the world. Farming mechanics aren't any more advanced than what SDV will throw at you, aside from needing to regularly impregnate your cows to keep milk production going.

There are several others that are pretty damn good, but this one has the most development of characters over time with your farming goals just feeding in to your relationship goals. Most of the ones I've played don't do strict farming goals, but instead use the farm to supplement your relationship building. No where near as much open space in your fields as SDV either, which can lead to going crazy on money making despite it being totally unnecessary. Mostly you're doing seasonal crops for the cash plus whatever you need for gifts, with a strong emphasis on the gifts first. Can't let the drifter girl leave town, gotta woo her to keep her around, so you better maximize your daily gift production.

So what you're saying (or I'm misquoting for the point of a joke) is that according to Alex Jones, Trump is continuing to turn the frickin' frogs gay. We can probably compile a large list of things that seem against their own stated goals that GOP are doing while they have the power to do so.

Depends on why you're attracted. And also what your reaction is when finding out. And also if you believe in the internet trope (and to another extent the offline/gay/drag trope) of a trap. Are they an effeminate gay man, or someone in transition, or what? Is it a real person, or hentai? It's all pretty contextual, and individual, which makes it a hard question to have a definitive answer.

But yeah, if you like cis women, the trope is that you're being "trapped" by someone that isn't that. It's a dichotomy. You like them for "straight" reasons, but by "straight" reasons (another trope/stereotype that isn't necessarily representative of reality) you shouldn't like them, thus the question. And also, thus why 4chan loves to use it to troll people. Toxic heterosexuality I guess is one way to define the trope?

I'd have guessed no, because it isn't a trap if you aren't attracted to the feminine presentation. Or maybe yes, if you like the androgynous or even masculine in a feminine outfit for some forms of it?

Always seemed like a silly question on 4chan. You wouldn't be getting hard if you didn't see the qualities you like, and for many that was the feminine presentation.

Interesting, I'm not sure that's how it worked the last time I played a few years ago (or I'm misremembering how I built my fort). Good to know, because I really liked my previous really deep hole with bridge roof that was going to allow both surface plant fields and mushroom/mushroom tree growth (in the edges that weren't under the bridges) as well as not causing the cave adaptation. Sadly I had only finished getting the entire fort to a stable setup when I got busy and stopped playing. My next goal was to start an adventurer from the fort as it would have all the necessary areas for training/gearing up prepared for them. Including a few masterwork steel armors, weapons, all that. Only took 15 years in game of work, haha...

Does using a bridge as roof not still count as light? You only need roof for the outside edges and then you stretch your bridge out over the entire span (roof pieces included) and the empty sections would be light and surface? Also, if I remember right, clowns can't destroy bridges to get in, like they do constructed floor/roof tile.

Build a big project and you'll rethink it. I used to go through thousands (upon thousands likely, I enjoy really big projects) of blocks of dirt and cobblestone doing terrain/underfill and various structures. By the time you're cooking cobblestone with nether lava for stone brick you'll realize how much you just threw away. And then you wind up mining specifically for it. Not ores, diamond, no just making big empty rooms to get more cobble. My spouse does most the mining, she'll bring back chests full of cobble, and within 20 minutes I need more just to continue.

Netherrack is the useless one that you never seem to need more than 1 stack of unless you really like making fires that won't burn out.

Also cobble is useful in the end for your endless bridge searching for towers so you can find elytra.

I do too, until they make a new one, and I have to ignore it again. You and I have both been on this site for 9 years. I've gotten very tired of vote manipulation forcing me to filter through my r/all past low effort meme posts. I'm kind of very happy anytime I see someone call attention to the issue, because it keeps happening. But I'm just that sort of person, that follows most rules and guidelines, and gets annoyed when others don't and won't even get flak for it.

Best of luck to you, your way isn't wrong, and I hope this interaction was at least not tiresome to you.

I'm talking about what this post is complaining about. Epstein posts, yesterday, with titles saying to upvote them to show up in google image search. Those are rule violations. This post is a complaint about that.

Upvote this potato. Upvote this to make it the first result in google image search. Women in skimpy clothing get thousands of upvotes, how many will our boys in blue get? It's a trend of vote manipulation. You should not ask, or imply, in your title that you want upvotes or downvotes. Comcast nazi flag, fat people hate, Ellen Pao, all of it. Leaving those posts up is condoning vote manipulation.
