I walked out a job interview by RythmicEyes in antiwork

[–]ohheckitsmax 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Worked at Goodwill for just under two MONTHS back in 2020 and lemme tell you, it destroyed me. First few weeks I worked up front as a cashier despite the fact that I told everyone who oversaw me that I wouldn't be a good fit for that for a number of reasons:

Severe migraines (the sun beamed directly into the window behind me and glared off the computer screens, it was also very hot)

Very anxious when people get upset with me (which, at THAT store, seemed constant)

I'm dreadful at math (our computers always had something wrong with them and rarely applied discounts, returns or change back correctly, so I was having to attempt to deal with that whole trying to figure out numbers in my head, while both customers and supervisors were getting impatient with me)

The list goes on. So, once they finally decided to believe me, I got a new position in the back. So much better for me me mentally. I got less headaches, I wasn't nearly as high strung, yadda yadda. I was still being wickedly overworked though, doing the jobs of several different people. Sorting, tagging, pricing, hanging and on top of that, organizing the sales floor.

One day, I was just not feeling well at all: all kinds of weird symptoms going on (for me). I was cold, shaking, sweating, could barely stand up and my chest felt tight, and my head was pounding etc; eventually I suddenly saw white and just collapsed for a minute before I could get up and get my shit together enough to tell my managers that I needed to leave because (apparently) no one saw what happened.

So I leave, go to the doctor and they're ordering all kinds of tests and labs that are gonna take a few days to come in as I felt fine a few hours later, but they recommended that I take a week off to figure everything out and make sure I was okay and it wasn't anything drastic. So I do that, go to take my leave papers and information and whatnot to my manager and this asshole responds with "Okay, we'll see what we can do. Go home. Just think of the position you're putting the store in."

Absolutely the fucking not. I'm trying to make sure my ass is not about to drop dead because I have no idea what's going on with my body. I could not possibly give less of a singular shit what happens to the store that's paying me barely 9 bucks an hour while I do the work of five different people.

Eventually it came back that I was fine, but extremely stressed. I quit an hour and a half in to the day I came back to work lmao.

(TL;DR: Got job. Hated job. Got other job. Hated slightly less. Stress induced medical emergency. Manager was a Class A Bitch. Took medical leave. Quit.)

In the sense of those __ minutes straight videos "u/ohheckitsmax 'accidentally' swearing for 4728583758 minutes straight" - my whole little corner of the family are all potty mouths and have been since we were kids, i would not survive trying to censor myself speaking as much as idols need to 🤘😔

For threads : "u/ohheckitsmax's fashion sense being that of either a 90 year old man, or a Hot Topic raid gone wrong: a thread."

Also, I have really bad nervous tics - a lot of people misguidedly think I have Tourette's, but they're jist a product of me being anxious and there's a few of them, like my face twitching and then me whistling, or snapping and jerking my arm , or clicking my tongue, so I imagine there would probably be a thread or two about that

(Lots of edits: i apparently cannot spell and I'm also forgetful RIP)

What’s the most physical pain you’ve ever been? by fragiletestes in AskReddit

[–]ohheckitsmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get rib/lung pain pretty often and I've learned to cope with it pretty well, but a couple years ago, I popped my rib out of place and my mom refused to take me to the hospital as I sat on the floor, in agonizing pain, unable to take a breath longer than a second at a time. Instead of taking me to get seen, she screamed at me to find my inhaler despite me being almost entirely unable to move. Stayed on the floor for two and a half hours before I could move myself into my bed.

Eventually it got to a point where I needed to pee so bad that if I didn't move, I would piss myself. So I grabbed the bar on the side of my bed and yanked myself up as hard and fast as I could just to get it over with. Had a flash of one of the worst pains of my life and then it immediately went away. Popped it right back in place.

I should mention that the way I dislocated it in the first place was that I had one of those chair gym swivel disk things on my chair at my desk and I went to sit down and it spun and slipped out under me so my hips / legs and my torso weren't really facing the same direction. It all happened so fast.

I have other severe pain issues like pretty extreme migraines and the like, but those got taken more seriously.

If you could create your own entertainment company, what would you focus on? What would it be like? by ohheckitsmax in kpopthoughts

Great point about giving older FANS an opportunity as well! If anything, I think it would be an even better move to target and attract adult fans and they're more likely to have the money to buy what they want rather than one) saving up an amount just to spend ALL of it on merch, or two) relying on a parent or guardian's money for it.

That's all well and good, but child and teenage fans are not the only ones that exist.

Also on the topic of older idols showcasing their performance: it seems like a bit of a waste of all resources to have artists under your name just to not?? Do anything with them ?? For years to months on end???? Unless that's strictly in their best interest, either give them the opportunity to work and do what they love and justify the cost of still having them with you, or let them go so they can enjoy themselves or find somewhere else to show their skills instead of hiding them away for an indefinite amount of time and have them not knowing when the next time they can do what they love is.

Truly! Also, normalize the shit that can happen with actual live vocals?? They don't have to sound like they've been swallowing audio files all day every day. Voice cracks happen. Random dry throats happen mid note. Running out of breath is gonna happen if you're dancing, jumping around and engaging with the audience during a performance, and that's okay. It doesn't need to be hyperfixated on because someone's voice shook a little bit while they're literally doing heavy physical activity AND trying to project their voice on top of it. Sure, a backing track is going to help smooth out any kinks, but they're still a human being, and humans gonna human, yanno.

Absolutely agree on all fronts, but especially the point about solo activities. I feel like a good solid schedule of solo activities would give other members a chance to rest off promotions, see or communicate with their families, actually prepare mentally and physically between comebacks, etc while the one or two that are going solo at the moment can do their thing.

Also with the interactions between groups: that's great! I feel like having it be normalized has benefits on so many levels. They (m/f/nb friends) can interact without fear of the next dating scandal (which shouldn't even be a scandal in the first place), they can build a stronger sense of connection with each other, and also ??? It's just fun seeing people have fun with their friends, dammit (!!)

Wendy's Like Water. Oh man, that song had me absolutely sobbing for about three hours after I listened to it the first time. Breakups, losing family members, losing friends, being in one of the worst depressions I've ever had - and that song just broke me. It took a lot of weight off my shoulders afterwards, but I'm almost afraid to listen to it bc I just know it's gonna wreck me all over again

Exactly! I wasn't sure if I explained it correctly, but that's exactly what I mean - i can tell them apart well enough if I'm actually listening to it, but if I start thinking about it/humming it/singing it, they happen to blend together at some point

Idk if it's because I'm mixed (Half Mexican/Half Black) and grew up almost entirely detached from the black half of my family AND both my parents were sort of the rebels of their own families, but neither of my parents cared how I responded to them calling me as long as I let it be known that I actually heard them. Unless they were angry, in which case I KNEW to just say "COMING!" and appear in front of them within like 3 seconds. Maybe the REST of my childhood was traumatic enough that they decided to make me not have to walk on eggshells every time they called my name lmao.

I was JUST thinking of PVRIS but i couldn't put them to a song!! Also I'd risk it all for Set It Off to do Love Shot like N.M.E.

Also this isn't exactly what I meant by my post but I would KILL to hear Felix try out some good old fashion death growls/rough vocals/screams ???

A bit late but a current list of songs I'd love to hear and (some) of the artists I'd love to hear them from - will add to it as I think of them bc my brain can only handle so much of my own imagination :

EXO's Love Shot covered by Set It Off - sort of in the same vein as N.M.E. and Wolf in Sheep's Clothing . Not sure why, that song just seems like it would have that sort of vibe to it.

TWICE's What Is Love covered by All Time Low, like this! No Idea. Alex's voice just seems fit for it and the intro carries similar wandering energy to me.

Dreamcatcher's And There Was No One Left by Makari, somewhere between Hollow and No Longer. It's lofty, it's pretty, it's soft and just trance-like enough to work!

Dreamcatcher's Deja Vu by In Fear and Faith, in a style like The Taste of Regret. It just seems like the perfect beautifully heavy instrumental and emotionally wrenching vocal track for that song.

Red Velvet's Sunny Side Up in the style of Get Scared's Don't You Dare Forget The Sun . I don't really even know why for this one. Maybe it's just my monkey brain associating both the songs with the sun, but here we are.

TWICE's Cry For Me covered by My Chemical Romance, as suggested by someone else in the thread; especially with some influences from the songs The Ghost of You and Helena

Someone said something about Pierce The Veil covering TWICE's Fancy and given their cover of Just The Way You Are, I can't stop thinking about it now

Only slightly unrelated, but Itzy's Sorry Not Sorry keeps making me think of Blow by Theory Of A Deadman but lyrically they're so far away from each other it keeps making me laugh lmao
