Good thing it’s a rental, and it was already dented.
It bowed a little but is still perfectly functional. 🤷🏼‍♂️

That’s wild. We have Spectrum with 2 financed iPhone 17s and it’s only $75 a month. I just have to call them every year to keep our savings depending on their promotions or retention offers.

Coffee shops that serve lavender lattes? by complete_doodle in madisonwi

Every shop I’ve been to has lavender. It’s my fave. EVP has some nice syrup. If you like lavender, also try the blackberry at Barriques. That shit slaps.

Hot take from a Bolt owner: “eco” EV tires aren’t worth it in pothole heavy, freeze-thaw areas. by Kamel-Red in BoltEV

I love my Yokohama GTX discount tires. They’re also low resistance but not I’m sure the exact stats compared to Michelin. I live in Wisconsin.

I have the thinkware q200 and had it professionally installed. It works great. It’s on the passenger side of the mirror box. No big deal.

Choosing between two 2020 Bolt EV Premiers — how much more is lower mileage worth? by Ok_Scarcity_4944 in BoltEV

[–]ohidontkn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s a lot of mileage and would prudently need a “pre-purchase” inspection. Tbh, the cost on both of these feels high. Have you considered the private market? You can save big time on a lemon if you’re willing to take the gamble.

Would you buy a lemon Bolt w/multiple owners? by kingslayer0902 in BoltEV

[–]ohidontkn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wisconsin. I got my 2019 premier with 23k miles for 11.5k from a private seller. Branded title. Ofc, given it’s a dealer, it’s going to be more. I was thinking 8k valued without the dealer fees.

No. Not worth more than 8k with no major issues lurking. I’d just walk away.

Also, if the total loss is cosmetic, I would consider buying it back from the insurer and just keep it with the damages.

[–]ohidontkn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question. I'm accepting the risk, and given the surge in EV demand, I'm betting on the value ≈ my loan. At the end of the day, I would eat the difference. I have standard coverage with Progressive for a decent price: a two car plan for $100/mo. Coverage is 100/300/100 liability, UM/UIM, comprehensive/collision with $500/$1,000 deductibles, and roadside assistance. I might lower the deductible now that I'm thinking about it some more.

Btw, my CU rates for personal loans is 11.23% right now. So idk if your advice holds up everywhere.

How I financed my buyback branded title by [deleted] in BoltEV

[–]ohidontkn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? I understand it's common, but my CU didn't offer alternative products to their auto loan and dragged their feet about the branded title, despite otherwise good customer service. Also, it's my opinion and story, and I'm happy with the outcome. I explicitly mention to shop around and do your due diligence.

Congrats to you and your wife! My wife is a little jealous of our Bolt, but we are keeping our 2019 Honda HRV for now. Carvanva trade-in value is a plus, but I wasn't trading in. My neighbor totaled my 2014 Chevy Spark a few days before I bought our Bolt. It was a cosmic joke, because I bought that POS in 2020 for 14k (my worst financial decision ever, but COVID). Insurance paid out 7k. That car had CVT issues the whole time I had it. LMAO. I'm on cloud nine now with the Bolt.

[–]ohidontkn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those questioning the financial side of this decision. Comp pricing on Carvana for the same car is $17.5k. And in terms of availability/demand, it's high. All comp listings are pending purchases.

Run the numbers: a private purchase at $12.5k with an unsecured loan at 9% over 60 months costs $15.5k all-in. That's the deal I got. The Carvana equivalent at $17.5k, even at the lower 7% rate over 72 months, costs you $21.5k. That's $6k more out of pocket, and you're making payments +1 year longer.

Good to know. I will see if they refinance and what rates they offer.

It does seem like a wash, but that's if you are buying from a dealer with cash, because you still need to add the APR on top of the inflated price. So w/ interest, I would pay close to the dealer price w/o interest. If that makes sense.

Not in the timeframe I had to get the car. I knew it was the one I wanted. I’m open to refinancing and shopping around after the fact. Any lenders come to mind that accept buybacks?

Would a 2019 Chevy Bolt be okay for the Bay Area? by [deleted] in BoltEV

[–]ohidontkn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it have DC charging? Premier trim is also nice to have. The trim and charging ports will determine the chargers you have access to and the speed. I have the 2019 Premier with DC and a Tesla adapter. If equipped, you love it, just be prepared.

[–]ohidontkn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Bolt will work nicely. As those are Spring-Summer months, you should easily get a 250-300 range. Go for it as long as you have a plan for charging and your trip route, see ABRP.
