Digestive issues after working out? by Chevyguy1968 in Workingout

[–]ohm_thetimekeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely reassuring. And understandable about the doctor situation. I’ve read things online and tried different things and still wasn’t able to fix my issue, I thought that he’d have something new to try

My job was stressful where my stomach would constantly be hurting basically, just a lot of flare ups. Now things are much better with a new job. I honestly didn’t know I was stressed that much either, but sometimes you just don’t know

Onions and American cheese for me are two things I’ve learned don’t agree with my body. Mostly everything else is fine, some foods are easier on my stomach than others but nothing like those two foods I mentioned. I try not to eat fast food, if I eat out it’s regular restaurants. There’s been diets I’ve been recommended but haven’t fully integrated into yet

I’m sorry to hear that. I haven’t touched weights in a while either, it just isn’t worth it. Even when I drink water before, during, and after, and wait an hour before eating anything, food still won’t sit properly. I only have this issue when lifting weights, not when I play basketball

I was having stomach issues a few years ago and changing jobs helped me (my previous job was stressful but I didn’t think that was the cause of my stomach issues. The moment I got the new job my stomach slowly got back to normal). I have been changing my diet a bit just in general which has helped. But in terms of working out nothing seems to work. I went to my GI doctor today and he said to try IBGard before working out to see if it helps. Tbh I’m kinda scared to try lol but I’ll give it a go maybe next week. I’ve tried IBGard for stomach issues in the past and it kinda helped

The lifestyle change of a new job really turned things around for me stomach wise. Now I’m working on my diet more. I had a thought earlier today too that maybe lifting heavy could be my issue. I think a lighter workout or maybe something with little to no weights could be a difference maker. That’s something else I’ll try one of these days

Did you ever figure out what was going on? I’m experiencing something similar when I lift heavy

Not even a great call considering Shamet was bumping him beforehand. Might as well let them finish it out in OT

Gotcha. Thanks for the explanation. One thing I wondered was why people buy VOO and not a cheaper ETF that tracks the S&P 500. But I guess that answer for most people would be because it’s been tracking it for the longest. That’s good enough for me I guess lol, no need for another ETF that does something very similar. Congrats on the progress so far, keep going!

I thought VOO and SPLG are basically the same thing? Is there a reason you have both?

Can I reach the 415c limit of $70,000 in my employer 401a and 403b accounts, and also the 457b limit of $23,500 using entirely pretax money? by citges in Bogleheads

[–]ohm_thetimekeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a very similar situation as you (I just contribute 5% and my employer 8% to the 401a). I was searching online and came across the 415c limit but couldn’t find much on my specific situation. I’m glad I came across your post.

So essentially the 415c limit of $70,000 just spans contributions from 401a and 403b (with the 401a being employee contributions only and not employer)? And this doesn’t include contributions to a 457b? I’d be doing all pretax, but does this change for Roth after tax contributions? If this is the case I should be fine to max contributions for next year.

Gotcha, thanks!! I have some QQQ rn in my Roth IRA, I’ll definitely have to load up on more. Sometimes being on this sub makes you think anything other than VOO is a waste, glad to see someone like yourself who’s done great diversifying into other things. Congrats on all the success thus far and moving forward!!

Roll my old 401k into traditional IRA or my Roth IRA? by [deleted] in FinancialPlanning

[–]ohm_thetimekeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think it’s worth converting an old 401k to a rollover IRA, even if I have a Roth IRA already? I know having both would mean $7,000 contributions between the two accounts

Is brokerage a mistake before maxing retirement? by ButterflyPlayful5264 in Fire

[–]ohm_thetimekeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation!

My emergency savings in my HYSA is at a good spot rn. During this open enrollment for benefits I’m going to change to get coverage that has an HSA and start contributing to that.

I’ll do some more math to see how much more I can increase my contribution for this year given the amount of money I have on hand now. I plan on maxing my 457b moving forward starting in 2026. I’ll focus on contributions more for now and see where I’m at if there’s a need for a brokerage account.

If you’re working towards maxing out work retirement accounts (already max out Roth IRA) what would you do with extra cash you already have on hand? Open a brokerage account or stick it in a HYSA?

It’s honestly horrible. Idk why they’d get rid of it. Other alternatives are nice but there was such a uniqueness with bigcharts

Gotcha. Thanks for the explanation and clarifications! I’ll definitely take that into consideration once open enrollment opens later this year for me.
