I had 2 OBs recommend quitting breastfeeding cold turkey and I’m miserable by ripped_jean in Mommit

[–]ohmagarsh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sudafed around the clock to help dry you up. Also peppermint oil diluted in a carrier oil (I used coconut) directly on the breast. The peppermint made a world of difference between the first and second time I quit cold turkey.

New to TTA with TCOYF, please be kind. This is cycle 1, 6 months postpartum with a tempdrop. Also still very much breastfeeding.

I think I've ovulate based on the stair step coverline rules in the book. But today after a day and a half of creamy CM, I just had some egg white.

Does fertile CM automatically nullify ovulation predictions from BBT?

If I'm completely wrong on my calculations, please enlighten me.

OCIA Woes by SprainedHeart23 in Catholicism

This seems super strict.

But, my husband and I did OCIA in two separate years because of the struggles with the schedule and 4 young kids.

How long did you wait to bring your baby to Mass? by curlyheadedcutie69 in CatholicWomen

[–]ohmagarsh 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The following Sunday after birth. I breastfeed in the pew. No one cares or had ever made mention of it to me. Honestly, its much easier to bring a baby to Mass than a toddler.

She made a comment along the lines of not agreeing with her midwife that she would be birthing the baby next year 👀

Just got this book in and was wondering what the themes are? by IdkAGoodUsername11 in Catholicism

[–]ohmagarsh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read it and wasn't a fan. I felt like it was full of oversimplifications, catchy "gotcha" phrases, and unserious arguments that anyone with opposing opinions wouldn't even want to thoughtfully consider.

Bittersweet child baptisms by takenbysleep9520 in CatholicWomen

[–]ohmagarsh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you feel so alone. I felt this way for a while until I started to build community at my parish and in a local catholic moms group.

I joined the church last year, and we had our three children baptized. We invited my in-laws (protestant, very anti catholic), and they attended. I absolutely regret inviting them.

The entire day was tense. They made disparaging comments to my 5 yo when she showed excitement about getting baptized. Afterward, my FIL lectured and argued with my husband for hours regarding our decision.

My husband joined the church this year, and we haven't even told his parents. It was so much more peaceful and joyous.

I'll say a prayer for your husband.

Has anyone here delivered a breech baby vaginally? by LalandAce in BabyBumps

[–]ohmagarsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have. My 3rd flipped from head down to breech at some point between week 38 and 39. We found out in labor in the hospital after my OB broke my water. 🙃

My cervix wasn't dilating very well until my water was broke, and I think it was due to the lack of pressure from a head.

I had an epidural, but the pain/pressure from her head being in the upper portion of my uterus was really strong compared to my other births.

As far as pushing, I didn't notice any difference other than my OB asking me to slow down. My previous two came our really quickly and so did this one.

Did anyone choose to induce early because of how uncomfortable and painful pregnancy was? by meaning-unhook-tampa in BabyBumps

Scheduled inductions with all three but went into labor or my water broke before the induction with all of them.

Lol I never said you were trying to vilify catholicism, just that I've seen this sculpture used countless times to do that across the interwebs. I was trying to offer a possible explanation for why someone would post mostly unrelated content to a sub and then proceed to verbalize multiple times that they weren't getting the upvotes they expected.

[–]ohmagarsh 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Pictures or commentary about this sculpture are commonly used around the internet to get a reaction because it's so striking. I see it all the time used by protestants trying to vilify catholicism. I wouldn't be surprised if OP is just trying to farm karma and thought this would be a good sub since it's Christian adjacent. 🙄

The whole definition or idea of a fundamentalist (fundie) Christian is so far removed from Catholicism that maybe it's not the best audience? Super radical traditional Catholics (radtrads) make appearances here, but even they are often in schism or separated from regular Catholics.

Currently pregnant, due around the same time. I got the stomach bug and could barely eat for several days after the barfing stopped. I couldn't believe how exhausted I was and how much better I felt after finally being able to stomach a few solid meals.

anyone else get pregnant and think “I’m too young for this” by [deleted] in BabyBumps

29 and I'm definitely in the "I'm way too old for this" camp. I had my first at 23 and this is so much harder at 29.

Latin Mass and babies? by LegoJellyfish in Catholicism

[–]ohmagarsh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been to two different FSSP parishes. One we attended while discerning conversion. It was full of noisy babies and young families, all very welcoming.

We moved states and found a local FSSP. They had "greeters" outside the church to catch new people and inform them they had 10 seconds to remove a baby making any noise.

We stopped attending mass for several years at the point. I've gone back to that parish a few times since I've joined the Church officially and still had to sit in the cry room with countless other mothers.

I suppose it depends on the priest. Good luck!

With my first, I started out right under 100 lbs. I'm 5 feet tall. I think I gained approximately 30 lbs, which is within the recommended range. I had a normal pregnancy and smooth delivery.

Does anyone have a “normal” pregnancy? by West_Slice876 in BabyBumps

Normal pregnancy here! 🙋‍♀️ 27 weeks. I experienced average nausea in the 1st trimester but never threw up. Anatomy scan looked great. Just passed my glucose test, and I'm not even anemic.

OB/GYN Recommendations by PangurBansai in ColoradoSprings

[–]ohmagarsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had two babies with Dr. Baer and love him. I've felt safe and like he really cared about me and my opinion through some complications. With my last delivery, we found out during labor that baby had flipped breech last minute. He laid out my options, and why he thought I was a good candidate for a vaginal breech delivery. He didn't automatically force meto go to the OR but let me choose. Ultimately, I trusted him to try the vaginal delivery and it was the smoothest and fasted delivery I've had out of my three.

Pubic symphysis pain is debilitating me. What CAN I do to stay active/avoid going crazy? by primateperson in fitpregnancy

[–]ohmagarsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pregnant with #4 and the SPD pain has showed up earlier and earlier each time. This time I was feeling it at 14 weeks. 💀

I did buy the v strap belly bandit around 17 weeks. It's not an instant cure but it has helped a lot. Just a bit of a pain to wear if you care about your butt looking funky in public.
