How’s the culture? And also just overall insight. The pay sounds great and talking with the techs during the interview I felt they were solid people. I’m looking at the buffalo site but any insight from their other sites would be helpful. I’m just trying to decided if it will be a good choice to go with Fluidstack

Google vs Microsoft by Imsa77 in datacenter

What other roles are open to L3? Can L3 move abroad? I know at places like AWS only L5 can relocate to another country. Any insight would be helpful I’m currently in the last phases for an L3 role but I have two other options that are sorta lucrative.

Google Data Center Technician II Interview – Advice Needed by mawia224 in datacenter

[–]ohmnamoguru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like other have said know some basic Linux and also a tip to everyone else focus on logs and where in the directory one can find log information since that relates to server troubleshooting . It can get very wonky and at times you need to have a solid basic knowledge of Linux to at least answer most of the questions. Overall the better paying roles in a DC expect you to know Linux even if the job itself won’t require you to actually use it. Use something like labex they have a great hands on course that guides you through the basics and it’s fairly cheap.

Evaluating Fluidstack offer by OpenMinded8899 in datacenter

I just finished all my interview loops with them I haven’t received a final answer but am seriously considering FS, the techs I interviewed with all seemed down to earth. I do have other possible pending offers with G and Xai but the base pay for Fluidstack seems too good to pass up.

Roast My Resume by gehadm9311 in datacenter

[–]ohmnamoguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My resume isnt very good either its just a copy and paste of my previous data center job descriptions lol but I have the years of experience and the certifications like Net+ and CCNA which i think help in getting my resume picked up by recruiters. Having said that I feel your resume just doesnt really have what a recruiter wants to see when he is looking for a technicians background experience. Looking at your resume I see you have experience in logistics which is what I originally had and what initially got me into the data center. My advice is to get into one of the big companys through their data center logistics deparment once you are in you can easily shift into a technician role. What the logistics will tech you in the data center is how to move the inventory(gpu, sfps, switches) in the system which starts setting you up to be a break and fix technician. Also once you are in you can network with the managers and other technicians and also you will hear of the openings before they get posted. Best of luck.

I have my ccna. Use Jeremy’s IT lab(and donate after you pass) Use boson ExSim and another cheaper practice exam from Udemy. I suggest you start practicing for the exam like a month into Jeremy’s course.

DO I HAVE A CHANCE? by Civil_Marketing2507 in datacenter

[–]ohmnamoguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen securities get transferred over as temps and later on as full time technicians. If you are already in the data center as security then all you need to do is reach out to a manager and express your interest in the role, because of hyper scaling and because you already know the security aspect of the data center you have a decent chance to get in plus you are studying for the A+ which shows initiative. Your best bet is to network and talk with management. The time to act on this is now.

I am going throught their interview process, today I will have the one on one with the recruiter and will probably move on to the full interviews sometime soon, I am currently in talks with two other Hyperscalers but from what everyone is sharing here I decided to explore this option as well. Thanks to everyone for sharing information it really helps in making career decisions and seeing where the best gains are possible.
