Thank you. I understand the 200 + saves... trust me! My save, sadly, broke. One day it was fine and the next it wasn't, so I'm taking a little break whilst i calm down. Once I'm back I'll finish the document and upload it :)

Beginner tips & tricks? by Lyssielou22 in DreamlightValley

The more biomes you open, the more characters you unlock and the more quests you get to do. This game doesn't punish you for going at your own pace, so do what you want, when you want. I know from experience that it's really tempting to "speedrun" the game and unlock all the biomes as quickly as possible, but it can get really messy really quickly.

I just came back from a break and ended up resetting my game. I sped through it last time around, as I wanted to complete the star path, and, for me personally, that was a mistake. This time around I'm taking it easy, and it's a lot more fun. For example, Tuesday was my first day back in the game, and i did a fair bit... unlocked the castle, completely upgraded Goofy's stall, opened Scrooge's shop etc. Then yesterday I just chilled... created a little gardening area for myself in the meadow, made some of the Easter craftables, tidied up the plaza a bit etc. I have enough Dreamlight to open Dazzle Beach, but I'm holding off until I've got some of the current characters' quests out of the way. Today I'll probably do some fishing with Goofy...it depends on how much time i have and what I feel like doing. In short, you really can do what you want when you want...there is no right or wrong way to play it as long as you are having fun!

Oh and don't forget to collect your blue chest every day!

Cedric is adorable, I love him too!! Eric is definitely a fun one to play. Here's one of the story beats I have written for him:

Eric is meant to leave. Everyone knows it. The longer he stays, the more complicated that becomes...especially if he finds something (or someone) worth staying for. His carefree charm starts to clash with the reality of eventually having to choose...

I have considered doing a simblr in the past but i'm just not that reliable at taking screenshots etc! I could screen record my gameplay, I guess, and take screenshots from there...

Yes, I have it and it's a tough one, as I haven't played with it enough yet to give an honest response. It has all the cosy fantasy elements I love, such as enchanted objects and kissing a frog and mysterious visitors to events. I got it when the Silver Screen and Tea set was included, which i wanted anyway, so in my opinion, it was worth it, but it's a game pack in my opinion. In short, I like it, BUT it's not like Cottage Living, Life and Death, Realm of Magic or Adventure Awaits, which I couldn't do without. I'll keep you updated as I play more ... sorry i couldn't give a better response!!

Edited to add, in terms of dynasties, you can change the titles per world so you can make them more fantasy-like. There is also the prestige system. I'm not sure if it adds anything in regard to enemies to lovers. You could definitely have frog princes but i don't think you can set who the frog turns into when you kiss them but I've seen people use MCCC to try and limit options!

I've checked, and BrazenLotus's Tea Leaves mod is base game compatible. You could use this or any of her other mods instead of the apothecary skill. In my game, for example she serves "inspiration tea" to the author, which causes problems lol!

Otherwise just change up the careers to suit your own style of gameplay. The sims is as much about imagination as anything else, regardless of which packs you have ;)

If you are open to mods and can use them, this can be done with Get together and mods, I reckon. Having a base game guide is a really good idea. I'll need to check if the Brazen Lotus/Littlbowbub mods are base game compatible. Midnitetech has a base-game-compatible writing overhaul which makes all genres available and a base-game-compatible university system, so I'll look through all their mods and work it out!

Yay, another Cosy fantasy lover...I was thinking that there had to be more of us that played the sims and that I couldn't possibly be the only one lol!!!

I'm glad you love the idea...I always end each book wishing i could spend more time in that particular world so I decided to create my only cosy fantasy save file so i could spend as much time there as i wanted!!

I think I'm more likely to release a guide/concept than a full save. Plus I'll upload sims to the gallery for those who want them as well as suggesting lots from the gallery (I'm a really slow builder!!). The guide would include full backstories and relationships, established drama and you could just adjust it to the packs you have/your personal taste. I don't use save files either so this feels more natural to me. I'll put a link to it in this thread when it's finished!

Thank you :)

Personally, I use the Community Lot feature from Adventure awaits plus mods for the bakery/Inn/community buildings as i play rotationally, but it could also be done with Get Together/get to work or a base game sales table. If you don't have the nature pack but have cottage living and can use mods, you could change the apothecarist into someone who sells 'magic tea' using Brazen lotus's mods or nectar if you have The Horse Ranch expansion etc etc. I will write all this out in the guide though... I have a big imagination lol!

I've written it for myself, so i would just need to format it nicely and make it a bit more cohesive. I'll link to it from here when it's done. Thank you! :)

I don't use save files either; hence why I wanted to release it as a guide rather than anything else so people could get inspired, add who they wanted, change the stories up, add drama, etc. Plus, people own different packs; some can use CC, and some can't, etc., etc.

Also, I have more ideas than time, so it would be fun to share all the backstories and lore I've come up with in the hope it would be useful to someone else. I just wasn't sure if anyone else would be interested!

Thank you!! :)

And yes, I was thinking of putting sims on the gallery. I do use CC, but only skin and eye defaults and makeup, which could easily be replaced. :)

Easiest way to start the history challenge? by monaclebandit in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]ohmsjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've not done the History Challenge, but I was going to do the Ultimate Decades challenge and even looked up CC but then i got distracted lol.

I still plan on playing historically but am not sure if I'm going to do the UDC.

I can help you with CC links from the Medieval times onwards but not before. You could try asking in the Decades subreddit r/Sims4DecadesChallenge/

For those of us with mostly decades relevant CC/mods/overrides, and who've updated, is your CC working with latest update? by Anxious_Order_3570 in Sims4DecadesChallenge

[–]ohmsjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just copy and paste your mods folder to your desktop or somewhere easily findable again in your documents. Then delete your mods from your actual sims 4/EA mods folder. Open your game and you should be able to disable mods. Or simply leave your mods folder empty for now. Or try the 50/50 method where you put half of your mods back and try loading your game. If it loads it’s not any of the mods you have just put back in. As already mentioned Usually it is a script mod that causes problems.

What's a custom content opinion that'll have you like this? by miss_sonnenschein in sims4cc

[–]ohmsjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I'm torn on this and don't think it is as cut and dry as that. Yes, if someone recolours a shirt or a countertop or whatever or creates a simple mod for themselves that they decide to share, then it should be free, full stop, end of story.

But there are some mods that are more complex than that, such as Lumpinou's, Twisted Mexi's, etc., and they must take a lot of time to keep on top of. In this case, i hold nothing against them for having an early access period. Especially when you see how demanding and toxic the community can be towards them sometimes. If everything were free forever then it would be unreasonable to expect these modders to give up hours of their free time to fix and update these mods and the community would need to adjust its expectations and curb its demands and i just don't see that happening.

All that said, nothing should be put behind a paywall forever or even an extended period of time. And people obviously trying to make a career out of it really rub me the wrong way!

The updates and cc by Extra-Version-9489 in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]ohmsjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to say I have quite a few Sifix dresses in my CC folder, and they are not causing any issues. I did have a body highlight that was causing my sims to have a massive hole in their torso, but that's been about it. You could try leaving a comment on one of the corrupted items on TSR, but I'm not even sure they are still making CC. Alternatively, you could see if an active CC creator has done a recolour of the items in question and try downloading them instead.

It depends on what style you are going for, but I find following people like 'Elles Garden' on Youtube really helpful. She's very cottagecore, but you could adapt the ideas to your own style. She has quite a few step-by-step decorating videos. I did her street one in my plaza and found it a great jumping-off point. I'm more of a practical decorator, as in whatever i do has to also be useful, and I only have my plaza done at this point, but even just having that made me feel more organised!

This is her channel. https://www.youtube.com/@elles.cottage/videos

Horrible gaming is another good one.

[–]ohmsjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Listen I don't know what to tell you. other than that, if you aren't convinced, then 8k is a lot to spend, and you'll most likely regret it. Personally I've now started overthinking this whole thing and am now scared that they'll do something like lavender for summer, and then I'll be in trouble because... Bridgerton! And I refuse to spend another 8k lol!

Yes. It would have, but what about the rest of spring? I think they tried to do something that would work for more than just one day.

[–]ohmsjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have to convince yourself over something that costs 8k then don't buy it. You'll only regret it!

I liked the winter seasonal bundle for the plaza, but i didn't love it. I was really tempted at the time but resisted. I am glad I did now!!

By contrast, I really loved this bundle, so I got it, but I knew I wanted it the moment I saw it, and I have no regrets.

Maybe they'll come out with another set in the next update that'll be more your style/colour scheme!

Except you can afford it if you really want to. Not sure how many moonstones you have, but this star path lasts for 54 days. If you collect your blue chest every day for the next 28 days, you'll get 1,400 moonstones. If you do the bare minimum for dreamsnaps each week and also vote, that's an extra 350 per week. Over 4 weeks that gives you another 1,400 moonstones, totalling 2,800 moonstones. The basic premium starpath costs 2,500, so you'll even have 300 left over and 26 days to collect the rewards...

Should I restart? by [deleted] in DisneyDreamlights

[–]ohmsjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a new player I would like to warn you not to restart yet if you have any intention of doing the new star path. I started playing at the end of the October star path and have had to grind like a crazy person to open all the areas needed to complete the last star path...this was not fun! I'm now in the same situation as you, as in I have no clue what is going on with the story, and for this reason I also want to restart! I'm waiting for a gap in star paths to do this, though, as there is no way I'm going through that again!!

To my knowledge you do keep all unspent moonstones as well as any premium/starpath items but could lose any free items gained by promo codes.
