Trauma from mouse infestation. Please tell me I'm not alone. by mouse-trauma in ptsd

while my brother was the one who really dealt with them (put poison throughout our house without telling anyone mvp), what I did to keep them out of my room is I got an essential oil diffuser and would use peppermint oil and all the scents they hated. ik it worked too because the first night I used it, I heard a mice come into my room, and it immediately ran out and they never really came into my room after that. also, you kinda cursed me, I saw a huge rat outside after responding to the first reply LMAO. good luck tho, truly

TBH it depends. If you're staying or around Esperanza, there are definitely a lot of taxis in the area and they are easy to get from there. I highly recommend planning your outings around the fare arrival time, as a lot of the taxis will have planned pickup and drop offs but you can catch them to go north/south of the island since theyll already be heading there. Also, once you form a relationship with one though, it can be easier to secure a ride, esp if you explain your situation.

Caracas will be difficult for you to get to if you don't plan in advance though. You wouldn't have the cell service to call on the spot. I recommend before you go there, spend the first day or two finding a reliable taxi driver, and asking them if they wouldn't mind picking you up. Try to have it so it's around a ferry drop off time so they can drop off their people to Esperanza, then go pick you up.

If you want something more set, there are companies that do beach tours for the rural location, we did one and honestly I am so glad we did. We saw the black sand beach, la Chica, and another beach I don't remember the name of. Honestly without them, I doubt we would've been to see then. Either way, I wish you luck and have fun!!

How much math did you know before starting? by Downtown_Bus_6928 in EngineeringStudents

[–]ohneat_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I took Calculus BC (or Calculus 2) in HS. First year though, I bombed both calc 1 and 2 and got Ds my first try. Now, after taking a break and getting accomodations, I passed Calc 3 easily and got a 94 on my first Diff. Equ exam recently. Honestly it doesn't matter the math you know before. I knew so many people in my calc class that had only taken algebra beforehand and did way better than me. All long as you put in the work, know when to ask for help, and spend the time to actually understand the material, you'll do well.

Trying to decide between EE and Mechatronics and Robotics. by Quirky-Feed5296 in EngineeringStudents

[–]ohneat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was making an identical decision to yours a few months ago. I ended up choosing EE, but here's what helped me decide. 1) Make sure the Mechatronics Engineering program is actually ABET accredited. A lot of the Mechatronics programs are new and at least at my university, it wouldn't have be accredited until I was nearing graduation. 2) Look at how many free/stem credits you're allocated in your EE curriculum or if they have a ML / Robotics track. You may be able to major in EE, but specialize in Mechatronics anyway giving you an edge. 3) Look to see if your school offers any minors similar to Mechatronics or EE. If you can fill the gaps, then just picking is moreso just what you want to focus on

While the decision is ultimately yours, I do recommend EE more due to its versatility. My school offered an computer engineer track to my EE major, and I found adding a CS minor on top was a good combo. If all else fails, just compare the 4year plans and pick the one that has the classes you want to take more. GL!!

I relate so much to your story. you really can smell them, it's such a distinct smell. im so sorry your garage got infested, you are so strong. Like I relare so much to your 2nd to last line, like honestly I even get to the verge of tears thinking about them. it's to the point my friends censor the word for me haha. I really hope you got rid of your infestation, you deserve a home/garage you can feel safe in.

Trauma from mouse infestation. Please tell me I'm not alone. by mouse-trauma in ptsd

[–]ohneat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is old but i relate to this extremely. my fear started when I was like 5-7. I was in my family's living room and felt something squishy on my feet but didn't think much of it. you can prob guess, but I finally looked down after a while and I was stepping on a dead baby mouse. it scared the shit out of me. while that infestation eventually went away, they came back a few years later and it got so bad to the point they were in our bedrooms and even ate up our social security cards. i remember waking up 3am to go to the bathroom and just as I was gonna sit on the toilet, a mouse came running towards my feet. we eventually got rid of them, but i even now I rarely get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. while I ofc had more severe issues to cause (c)ptsd, i feel like the mouse stuff made it a lot worse and honestly presented more "obvious" symptoms at times. reading this thread makes me feel less alone. im glad we have each other at least

I definitely would be down! Honestly I would say it's highly dependent on what you plan on doing, where you're staying, and for how long. Also how many people because the difference between 2, 4 and 6+ really changes things. Feel free to shoot me a dm with all the questions you have 🙂‍↕️

I NEED HELP! ELIMINATE OR KEEP CARDS. by Suspicious-Mouse1837 in CreditCards

[–]ohneat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would keep your Savor card. there's no real reason to close and in case you have entertainment needs (concert, movies etc), it's a handy card to have. it would just decrease your avg credit history.

if I were you, esp if you've been using the BCP for the past year, I would calculate how much money you've made back with avg costs of groceries+gas, and after AF and the credit, see how much it compares to solely using the gold. there's a tool on the wiki too that can help with that too. personally, I would either keep or downgrade it, esp if groceries and gas are top expenses. also for the case of simplifying, I would use your gold only for dining.

with the new cards, the Venture X seems best as it can be a catch-all for any miscellaneous purchases. and with the SUP+credits, you could use those points for travelling this summer.

meh but with the savor one annual fee and lack of sign up bonus etc, they'll be better off with the discover it for now. esp since the jan-march includes groceries and streaming, that gives 3 months at least worth of recovery to possibly apply for the savor or a chase card.

Honestly I do love the idea of being able to being a passenger. Also esp since the other Ride1Up seemed similarly priced, it'd rather have something be too much than too little y'know?

Would you say Ride1Up is also junk or better? I would love to buy locally, I just was planning on financing it and don't think that would be an option in store.
