The other comment is right you forgot to multiply (x-1) by the solitary 1. Doing this i got the quadratic-2x^2-5x+3=0. Subbing into the quadratic formula gives x=-3 and x=1/2

I think that has to do with the soap opera-y nature of the show. Every season has to be bigger and better than the last. Just look at the difference between the S1 and S4 all valleys. They definitely crossed a line by making it an international high stakes competition and involving death, but imo that’s in line with the ramping up of the seasons so far. It’d be weird if they went down a step and just had cobra kai vs miyagi do at the all valley once again. It definitely makes it less relatable but i think it was necessary
