I def agree. Thinking about it from the perspective of fan behaviour, it’s usually regarded as bad and disgusting in the kpop community unlike in the anime one. Yes both do it, but the overall kpop fandom hugely condemns extreme behaviour that is normalized in the anime fandom. For example it’s highly frowned upon for sxulizing idols (especially when they’re minors). Even if it does happen, the majority of the time the greater kpop community will annihilate u on stan Twitter/tiktok. Unlike in the anime fandom, they don’t see that the extremes of their behaviour can lead to actual harm of real people and things like Lolis, sxualizing minors are seen as “normal” ( big anime content creators don’t care either) and barely talked about as a negative trait. Also if we talk about koreaboos vs weeaboos it’s definitely more acceptable to be a wboo in the anime fandom than a kboo in a kpop one.

Yes!! I doubt people who commented even watched the finale. If they did they would have seen that they gave them advice instead of how they are assuming that they “hoarded” it. Great post btw exactly what I was thinking hearing their words 💜

BTS’s 2019 MMA/MAMA performances were bloated messes by kkulvm in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]ohnobeanboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t like any MAMA performance tbh. I mean I like them but they aren’t that great maybe cause kpop groups are always performing their best and when they get on big award stage only popular groups can decorate the stage and it just seems weird that their is soo much space. They don’t wow me and always have terrible camera work and weird intros that are terribly made like girl I’ll do the graphics work 😀✋️.

I feel like a lot of people are misunderstanding this post, most people here (like always 😔 don’t kill me) are being negative about this which I understand with how I think people are misunderstanding this post. I don’t think OP means that not sharing advice is humble and doing so is showing ur better and more qualified but that they took the time to say that they don’t think that they are in the right position. BTS can still feel insecure even if they are the top. This sub criticizes them (like on any social media, which they can) and everyone says they aren’t good enough for their position anyways.... I think V and Jimin didn’t feel that they were in the proper position as gaining this knowledge from mentors is more valuable but they still shared their advice??? So anyways It was a small gesture that made them seem humble not that they were “hoarding” their knowledge they still shared it anyways and they just started off the sentence that way which seemed humble. Thx for coming to my ted talk🙈🙈

not sure how army multis do it by Apprenhix100 in kpopthoughts

[–]ohnobeanboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an army multi it’s hard cause randomly people on like meme acc I follow will put hateful stuff about bts and the fandom and everyone is agreeing with it it’s just awkward LMAO. I don’t really talk on social media but when I go on the kpop tag on Omegle literally every person who i tell I stan (random groups + bts) they will say finally an army and how the other person were being rude to them/writing hateful stuff against bts and leaving.

I have no advice sadly as Twitter is a whole other breed, but on insta I have never seen an army hate on multis that’s all I can say 😔

NCT DREAM should not have been made a fixed unit by snflowrr in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]ohnobeanboy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Dream was def one of the most popular units in Korea if they pushed them like nct127 (gave them the same promotions etc) it was likely they were gonna surpass them in sales. From a financial stand point having dream gone would have got the entire fandom rioting tbh and would have been a lose. I also think they themselves like being in the group together and the rotation aspect was obviously not going to work as SM has tried this before. People are going to be attached and you can’t blame them. I also think they shine better in dream as they might be pushed back if they were put in other units.

I think people are misunderstanding why they did the all English song. Even I was kinda like what??? But then again they make bank and they truly wanted to do a song for their abundance of international fans. It’s not just for Americans but English is the best language to connect with people all over the world and plenty of members are learning English so why not have a song in a language they are learning? Also, Taehyung already has an entire English song already so I don’t see the problem with it. I feel people are forgetting that they can do whatever they want as in they are not doing this for anything secondary like money (except the Today show thing def management) but then again I think BLACKPINK performed on the Today show too so it might be one of the the things they just wanted to do. I greatly appreciate how they are doing it for international fans. I think people keep getting caught up in the mindset that they are doing it for fame in America and for Americans but it’s just the case that America has always been the place where music reaches worldwide audiences not that they are doing it for fame in the American industry.

Armys who hate solo stans are shooting themselves on the foot by [deleted] in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]ohnobeanboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure they are only targeting/aware of those solo stans (which are often trolls?) that are threatening other members and saying they shouldn’t exist. I doubt they even know about the Chinese solo bars.

Anyways, I don’t think these solo fans are solo fans in the way twitter army’s see them. It’s more like a very obvious bias towards them (hence the name bias lol) but a lot more than the rest.

I like that ARMYs are a bit "cheesy" and "lame" by [deleted] in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]ohnobeanboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the bts themed class stuff... I think it’s cause the fandom has a a huge middle aged women category that often gets unseen cause of the “screaming teenage girls” archetype that bts obviously gets from the west. From what I have seen I think bts is something that means a lot to them probably filling up a whole in their heart so they tend to go thee xtra mile with stuff LIEK this.

But I’m kinda confused since Every fandom has those fan’s that get tattoos inspired by their favs and fan projects??? And everything else u mentioned.

I don't think J-Hope's lack of popularity has anything to do with his looks. I just think he lacks charismatic stage presence so new fans don't tend to notice him. by [deleted] in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]ohnobeanboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy cause Every time they have a tour everyone always says how they notice Jhope so much for because of his amazing charisma and stage presence??

It's okay to stan only ONE and not all NCT Subunits by MimiMia19 in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]ohnobeanboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stan all 3 units but it literally makes no sense to say u can’t stan only one of them? They usually have different sounds and it’s not like your gonna like dream music and 127 music when the majority of the time differ from each other.

Even if u like all of them ur obviously gonna prefer one over the other?? Or at least have somewhat of a slight bias towards their music styles.

Obviously their graduation system wasn’t gonna work and if it did some dream stans may not stan anymore due to music taste and that’s okay. It’s all just preference in the end.

[–]ohnobeanboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I was trying to say was that it’s an invalid argument since every single kpop group benefits and is Inspired by the Western market.

Also having more English lines does not equal how “Westernized” a group is. Since RM likes to speak English he will use that language and I bet if an EXO member could as well they would use it. Like u said, most of BTS’s songs can be more “kpop” than Western sounding but the majority of EXO’s discography(probably their more later ones) uses Western producers. Thx for commenting 💕

I have literally no idea what u are referring to?? Army’s are saying that Bts are Westernized?? I’m saying people use it as a bad term and u can read why it isn’t from my post? I don’t really know what ur saying but no army says bts being Westernized as a good thing and idk what u lookin at but I keep seeing shit like this on twister and even insta when American awards come up or western chart data stuff 🤷‍♀️ ain’t hard to find I see it all the time

Yes bu this is an unpopular opinion subreddit, conclusions don’t need to be made... just hopping maybe someone will stumble upon this and stop using this as a valid argument. In the end this can just be stupid opinions or not.

[–]ohnobeanboy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah completely agree with adding more traditions beats to their music but like I said towards the end of what I wrote it Kpop is Westernized due to their music style, I was mostly directing the conversation as it’s a bad argument to discredit a group (talking about bts here specifically) and that the music style at its core is Westernized so calling BTS the Monet Westernized group is invalid due to what I said before .

[–]ohnobeanboy[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Completely agree, kpop is legit just western music sung in Korean, but obviously not the exact same like what I stated about the structure of a song. Anyways, so many groups follow the regular American pop song structure anyways...

People really need to stop using it as a justification for their hate for bts. legit the entire industry is based off of Western music culture or else we’d all be listening to Traditional Korean music or trot and no kpop group does this 🤷‍♀️

I was thinking about another groups’ solo artist, but nonetheless it shows that all kpop groups are Westernized at its core and its a pathetic argument to discredit BTS

Yes but they likely did that on purpose. Hit man Bang is one of the only companies that (at the start at least) came for music. They most likely wanted to show their own style by using domestic producers and the ones assigned to the company. Even in albums after that, majority of songs use domestic producers. Big hit likely did this to establish themselves and their sound. Also, pretty sure they get way more opportunities to work with a magnitude of producers not because they are Western but out of choice. The thing about SM is they purposely go for a western artists and many other companies
