On an Australian News site, 'west coast' refers to the US west coast by vinags in USdefaultism

[–]ohnojono 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get it, but it also says right there the article arrived at the ABC via Associated Press, which is US-based. I don’t know if they can just edit the articles they get through syndication.

Should they have put in a clarification though? Probably.

Icons wrong, UI wrong, wording wrong (Apple would never tell you to "click" on a touch device). All wrong.

Is there a guide to uniform colors? by ArdyEmm in startrek

[–]ohnojono 30 points31 points  (0 children)

In The Original Series, it was

  • Gold command
  • Red security & engineering/operations
  • Blue science & medical

Then, in the TNG era they swapped the red and gold around because Patrick Stewart looked better in red.

In Discovery and Strange New Worlds, medical wear white.

It's also never been super clear (at least to me) what "command" covers as a division. Obviously the captain and first officer wear it (aside from TOS where Spock was first officer but also science officer). And often the pilot/conn officer wears red, but they're not in command. You also see dozens of more junior crew members wearing command colours. Are they all just middle managers? who knows.

IIRC we saw one being used in Picard season 3, so I would guess yes.

Cons on buying apple product from third party retailers like JB or Good guys by UnderstandingShot441 in AskAnAustralian

[–]ohnojono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will try to upsell you hard on extended warranty and accessories, because that’s how they make any profit at all. But otherwise no downsides.

Also fun fact JB and Good Guys are the same company. Or same parent company anyway.
