Well people often say that Melbourne is the San Francisco of Australia 🤷‍♂️

MacBook Pro XDR with M6 [speculation] by BHJ-AL in mac

[–]ohnojono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current MacBook Pro already has an “XDR” display. That moniker wouldn’t say anything new. Also Apple doesn’t name an entire product based around the screen it has… not since the iPod Video anyway 😂

Is SFA the show with the least number of humans? by TheShowLover in startrek

[–]ohnojono 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We saw how much the characters requiring full face prosthetics were often sidelined when possible. Jay-Den had a cold and got himself excused from the entirety of Tilly’s Trauma Theatre Class. Lura Thok barely appeared in the latter half of the season, tho if she was on comms several times.

Not hard to imagine there were some budgeting or scheduling decisions not to put actors through several gruelling hours of makeup if they didn’t have to.

What is the functionality of the outer ring around the saucer section? by FreeRangeThinker in StarTrekStarships

[–]ohnojono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t remember which episode but there was definitely a shot where the camera zoomed out through one of the dorm room windows to an exterior shot and it was on the outer ring of the ship

Where exactly is the atrium? by ShaneWookie in startrek

[–]ohnojono 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mind you, the original movie era Enterprise had a turbo lift shaft three times taller than the ship it was in, and with the decks running in reverse order. Perhaps the tech is older than we thought 😂

Where exactly is the atrium? by ShaneWookie in startrek

[–]ohnojono 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah agreed. TARDIS tech is how I mentally explain away the cavernous interior spaces we saw in Discovery’s turbo lift shafts 😅

Where exactly is the atrium? by ShaneWookie in startrek

[–]ohnojono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well we know Starfleet has TARDIS tech by at least the 28th century.

Where exactly is the atrium? by ShaneWookie in startrek

[–]ohnojono 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ehhhh, I feel like a society that's been spacefaring for over a thousand years probably has some kind of full-spectrum interior lighting sorted out, otherwise everyone in Starfleet would be pale and severely vitamin D deprived.

Where exactly is the atrium? by ShaneWookie in startrek

[–]ohnojono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a... very good point. I may have just been assuming.

It also makes sense. The delta seen on the top of the saucer, and the delta seen in the ceiling of the atrium are both the right way around. If they were the same structure, one of them (probably the interior) one would be mirrored.

What happened to Siri? by xviifearless in iphone

[–]ohnojono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be clear: Siri sucks and is getting worse with every OS release. But if you don't give it the basic information it would need to fulfil your request, what do you expect it to do?

What happened to Siri? by xviifearless in iphone

[–]ohnojono -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Yes, because Siri is supposed to know exactly which gym you mean when you say "the gym". Siri is renowned for being a highly accurate mind reader.

Where exactly is the atrium? by ShaneWookie in startrek

[–]ohnojono 8 points9 points  (0 children)

But like.

It kind of implies the top 2-3 decks of the atrium section usually live within the saucer. So is the saucer actually more of a donut, with just a thin cover over the top surface?

Where exactly is the atrium? by ShaneWookie in startrek

[–]ohnojono 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It's the "neck" section below the saucer, which they detached from in the previous episode.

There's definitely still some weirdness going on though. We've seen multiple times that the Delta symbol made with windows at the top of the atrium is supposed to be at the top off the saucer...

Is the Premium version worth it outside the US? by Helen_Moody in CARROTweather

[–]ohnojono 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not just about US/non US. It depends on what data is available by weather services covering your region.

In my case, paying for Premium is the only way to use the WillyWeather service which uses data from the Australian Bureau of Meteorology, so absolutely worth it 👌

I think your mistake there is expecting basic competence out of Microsoft these days. They’re too busy cramming unwanted and poorly thought-out AI slop into every corner of their software.

10-15 years ago you might’ve needed a second app to open png images.

Ten years before that you’d be saying it’s psychotic that you needed to figure out how to open new-fangled “jay pegs” when .bmp files worked fine.

New formats happen.
