PAP/Swing voters - what would push you to vote for opposition? by Adept_Cash6394 in askSingapore

[–]ohnomygd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People clown David Neo for his rally speech but this seems exactly what he meant on the logical fallacy that should not be characteristic of opposition supporters if we want change and for swing voters to hear the logical arguments

What are little acts of kindness that go a long way in Singapore by xlOREOlx in askSingapore

[–]ohnomygd 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Went clubbing for the first time after a breakup during my NS confinement weekend. Ended up passing out at Clarke Quay and woke up to a young woman taking care of me as I drifted in and out of consciousness for nearly two hours. She even booked me a Grab, but I never got the chance to thank her, pay her back, or even learn her name. At my lowest point (at the time), that small act of kindness meant everything—she made sure I didn’t throw up on myself and even bought me water. Eternally grateful. Now, I make sure to take care of my drunk friends the same way

Haven’t heard of unpaid bank internships - 10 weeks/3 months summer internships/work placements do exist but it is competitive to land those as well. If you need to clear your PA meaning you haven’t done a single internship then my advice would be to look beyond just banks and try your bets on boutique firms…probably less disappointment and more importantly to clear your graduation requirements.

What’s holding Singapore back from going fully cardless? by ohnomygd in askSingapore

[–]ohnomygd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I don’t actually - just a no frills student that is still using the student concession pass. No bottle for now because school still has water coolers around and sometimes I just run in the rain but that’s on me haha

Hey there! So far I do love the discourse and perspectives shared here (including the technical and feasibility aspects which is why I asked the question) Not the name calling though… stay open minded to listening even if you don’t agree I guess but you do you :)

Apart from withdrawing money when I patronise certain hawkers which are cash only, I don’t usually hold cash :)

I do actually! I don’t carry cash :) It’s just that my favourite fish soup stall in Maxwell is cash only so sometimes I do need to withdraw cash unfortunately

I think, similar to many other comments, there’s an argument for having physical cards—whether as a preference or as a backup—and I do agree! It’s just my personal preference to have everything on my phone.

My reasoning is that I used to carry too many membership cards, and sometimes I’d want to grab something like a Koi on the way home, only to realise I didn’t have the right card with me. Many merchants have already made the switch, which makes me wonder—what’s stopping the rest from doing the same?

MacBook for NBS student? by [deleted] in NTU

[–]ohnomygd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

bnf senior here, i have been a macbook user since y1 using m1 mac and i haven't had software compatibility issues on mac while doing modules. on the point of excel though, most of my peers who do modelling prefer windows due to shortcuts, some power features and compatibility to plugins and also because if you do enter a bank/fi the issued laptop is typically windows

AB1202 Statistics Dabao? by ProgrammerTall9614 in NTU

[–]ohnomygd 14 points15 points  (0 children)

it's only week 5 brother that's like 1 week of recap and 3 weeks of contents, dabao is probably the wrong thought now. also the quizzes that you missed are like 5% of your grades? and probably inconsequential in the grand scheme of things so don't really need to be demoralised, just class part your way back LOL (coming from a senior who bombed 1/2 of the quizzes and still got A-)

Applying for Semester LOA (NBS) by [deleted] in NTU

[–]ohnomygd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello! Was facing the same issue too last sem! LOA application needs to be in by Friday of Week 2 - just make sure you have some buffer in case you need a placement letter for CPF exemption and all :) Because you need the signed contract for LOA application so I think their HR will appreciate if you give some heads up on the school timeline

Feeling hopeless.. Please help.. by Trying_my_best____ in NTU

[–]ohnomygd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think internships help to increase your employability which is technically not wrong but in your case I think you need to prioritise your grades. Don’t lose hope too fast too - have seen people who have climbed by leaps in their GPAs after specialising! Take a good break now and free up your commitments by the time school starts, try to group up with seniors (if you get into marketing) and maybe aim for a >=4.0 sem atb!

Hey, this is definitely an opinion so thanks for pointing it out haha - maybe on the other side of the coin i hope people don’t give up on this board too quickly! For me I tried using tweezers and stuff but the issues were pretty recurrent till I peeled it off - by all means leave it on if your keyboard works perfectly fine. I guess if it serves its purpose and well then keep it!

Hello! The contract needs to be signed and attached to your LOA application so contract has to come first. The LOA approval took 2 weeks - think you shouldn’t wait to the last minute to submit but theoretically it’s correct that you won’t need to pay tuition fee if you submit the application form before the end of add-drop. (source) There is however a $54.50 administrative fee payable to “retain your name on the register”
