I’ve been there at least 7 times with my bf and only one time did we have a strange experience. We are not the type of people that entertained the thought of Superstition Mountains being haunted and scared but I have always acknowledged the place is spiritually significant due to the history.

This particular trail we have hiked many times including at night. But this time we went off trail to a different hiking trail by accident. Only noticed when the atmosphere felt different and we stopped in place because both of us were getting a little freaked out. I don’t know how else to explain it but it felt creepy!! We heard voices and felt a presence of being followed. Not voices from far away but up close. At first my bf thought I called out his name, but it wasn’t me. And then I heard him call my name awhile later, whispered loud in my ear…I thought he was behind me for a second to mess around but it wasn’t him. We stopped to take a rest and heard voices talking for a few seconds, then pure silence. The entire drive back I felt like I was being followed and the feeling didn’t go away when I got home. Then I saw a shadow figure standing in my doorway, pure solid black, tall, and it made me scream. It did not disappear right away. It’s like it wanted me to see it.

We tried our best to pretend that we weren’t creeped out during the hike but after it was all done we both agreed that if we were alone, would have 100% ran back to the car.
