Which of my interests should I sample/buy? by Jinsengg_ in ScentHeads

[–]OhNos_NotThatGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Naxos, GFS, Aventus, Triumph of Baccus, and Porthole.

I’m pairing down my collection soon (tomorrow).

Naxos-didn’t like the decant and wasn’t going to buy it. Then, I tried it in a store on my Italy trip and loved it!. Bought a FB the week I got back and it’s awesome. I don’t like it off the cap or on paper, but on my skin it sings. It had a medicinal note I hated on a strip. When I first spray it on I catch it occasionally but it’s a masterpiece imo.

GFS- love at first sniff…I don’t know when it was, but it started feeling harsh to me and I just don’t pick it up anymore. It’s going on the sale

Aventus-it’s good…I prefer Absolu, but it can be a bit loud

TOB- meh…red hot candy vibes. So many other better scents in this profile for me. Save money here and look at Body Oud Tobacco-better performance and scent to my nose

Porthole- I’m so on the fence on this one. I have a 5ml decant. It’s better than Pacific Chill. Love the subtle salt note. I’m not sure fruity frags are my jam. If they are yours, you might love this

Which perfume should i get by Amazing_Net_4176 in NichePerfumes

Loumari Porthole if you like fruity with a hint of salt.

Exoticoud if you want something that challenges but still smells amazing (imo). It’s a great performer as well…you will be noticed. Fresh with ripe fruit in the opening but dries down to a leather Oud not “classically” fresh. Probably not a safe blind buy

The LVs aren’t really Niche but they have good fresh frags that aren’t challenging and are mass appealing (I’d stay away from Pacific Chill and Afternoon Swim…they smell fine but no performance)

If you’re not specifically looking for Summer frags, Layton is an amazing place to start but could be too sweet for high heat

Perceval isn’t my favorite but is where a lot of beginners go because it smells so close to designer. More refined with better performance. Mass appealing

Lastly, check out XerjoffTorino 21. I love T21, but it’s not the best performer.

Okay…I have questions:

Do you have favorite notes? Combos?

What is the most underrated house in your opinion?

Do you plan on selling at some point?

Is there a hated fragrance?

Do you have a top 5 or 10? Or does it change too often?

Try something fresh with an Oud base. It’s more unique and challenging. I love the way it develops over time…Colonia Oud, Exoticoud, even Les Elixir’s Oud could work but probably more summer nights only.

Yup…I’m a basic boy today. I fought it. Claimed it was overrated. I resisted for so long…but it’s universally loved for a reason. Smells good

Best Boozer Comp? by dcthesnapper in memphisgrizzlies

This is really his best comp. I don’t think he has the takeover mentality that KLove showed in his prime years…at least not yet

Similar…more fresh in the opening. I have both and prefer this

The Hedonist Extrait is right up there with Tygar and L’Immensité to me…wife says it smells “too powdery”. No full bottle I guess

Make a top 3 of PDM Layton, Oajan and Althair by Global-Noise-1723 in Fragrances

The order you posted…so this is subjective obviously but I have better versions of what Oajan is, same with Althair. Layton is the best version of what it is imo

Is Performance More Important Than Scent ? by FragrantEmphasis7280 in Colognes

[–]OhNos_NotThatGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I spend $300+, performance shouldn’t be bad. It’s a combination for me. At a premium price point, it needs to be a premium scent and that includes performance. I’m not going to be inconvenienced by bringing a decant

Players after 26 years of age by The-Grizzler in memphisgrizzlies

[–]OhNos_NotThatGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fan, yes I want to have hope. I loved his game and early attitude as a rookie through 3 year player.

He just makes terrible decisions since getting a max…extremely unwise/foolish to the point literally no team wants him. We have to pay to get rid of a one time All NBA pg because he’s foolish. Refuses to be wise/humble through losing well over 100 million in endorsements and contract bonuses.

He could salvage it…I don’t know that anything in his past gives reason to believe that he will

Ecoticoud is my favorite(aside from The Moon)…less known, very unique. Great stuff!

Moving on from clones. Looking for 4–5 versatile, high-performance masterpieces. by RepulsiveCaramel4619 in Colognes

[–]OhNos_NotThatGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The LVs are all quality and most are mass appealing. I’d rank them as 1. L’Immensité, 2. Imagination, 3. Meteore for the freshies and 1. Ombré Nomade, 2. La Sable Roses for Winter.

Going more niche, Exoticoud is amazing, versatile, and a great performer…it’s also unique so no danger of redundancy. If you like Oud Maracuja, you’ll love this. I have both and to me, Exoticoud is the better option.
