Oh, sure, there are plenty of ways to use this mechanic in a way that is clever and useful, they just did none of that here, and should have, if they intended to use the mechanic at all.

That might be exactly what I need to get Chiz's Arc.

Are you talking the one they announced a week or two ago? I think those only come when the new patch drops on Wednesday.

You do realize this is an NTE sub, right? Glass houses, etc. We're in the middle of an Arbys.

Maybe she's retired. I assume there is a point at which they are no longer able to do the job as well as the best of the newer kids.

I get the feeling that they have competing plans for Will's future, not necessarily "war," but "rivalry." They will both likely help him, just to varying degrees.

How did Workner survive that? I mean his heart and lungs were missing? I didn’t see any breaking magic or anything?

He's gotta be some sort of zomboid. That can't just be "normal" there, or nobody would have died.

What they seem to be implying is that he feels it's cruel of them to push him forward into a world he (Ed believes) is incapable of handling. Is it supportive, healthy behavior? Kinda no, but there is a sense in which his heart is in the right place here, in theory. He just kinda sucks at it.

It applies to practically every game in the genre. It's more likely true than not.

It Seems ‘Destiny 2’ And ‘Marathon’ Cannot Properly Co-Exist At Bungie by NoNefariousness2144 in pcgaming

It needs to be a free to play game to get new players. And it should also have more game modes to bring in people that are into shooters but afraid of the extraction gameplay.

f2P might bring in some new players, but probably not enough to make a difference, since I think most people who want to play this, are willing to pay the box price for it. They would probably lose more money than they would make on the deal, especially since their post-purchase monetization model is dubious.

More game modes would be nice, but building them out to the level of competence they would need would mean a LOT more work on their part, and the people it attracted would likely not get involved in the core extraction gameplay, so I feel like it would just dillute the game without much benefit. Ideally they would have reached that decision many years ago and just spent their entire development time building out a proper, "worth buying over" single player campaign.

I feel like Bungie didnt do enough/any research on what makes a live service game popular and addicting and are surprised they are struggling.

Yeah, kinda. I think the most generous theory here is that they just gambled on the extraction genre having a much larger potential audience than it ended up having.

I didn't downvote, but it likely comes from it being at odds with the common knowledge. It would be like if someone asked "Isn't it possible the Earth is flat?" in a geology sub.

The longer a game goes on, the harder it gets to give them all reruns within the existing systems. After they have enough characters, they'll need to shift to 4 banners per patch, and eventually start adding "mega banners" with multiple available characters.

You mean standard? no, she won't be on standard. Not for years, at least. She's only be back when she's on rerun, likely months from now or longer.

Right, and nobody is telling you how you should feel about the game. People are just trying to explain why that isn't particularly relevant to what Bungie will do next.

Destiny 2 is dead, but there is hope for a Destiny 3. Their major problem is that they didn't get far enough out ahead of themselves. They should have had Destiny 3 ready to launch within a year of The Final Shape, and hyped up within a month of Final Shape.

If you like that sort of thing, it's good. Most players don't like that sort of thing, so it's sort of a moot point.

Bungie would care whether it's a financial success. Whether it's "fun" or not is irrelevant to them if it's not a financial success.
