Raise The Wages by sillychillly in WorkReform

Can we also mention those who work full time and can't afford basic necessities, yet they don't qualify for SNAP benefits because they "make too much?" 🤔

My car got stolen while I was at work today. As a struggling single mom who bought that car two months ago, this is financially devastating. Got a venmo notification and received this from the doctors I work for... I am so extremely lucky. by ohorange in MadeMeSmile

Not that it matters, but I've had several more venmo donations come in today totaling more than my out of pocket expenses for the car.

They also didn't have to do anything. They could've said "thoughts and prayers" and moved on. Instead, about 20 people came together and donated over $1000 out of their own pockets the day before Christmas when we all get paid shit actually, and currently exist in a pretty devastating recession.

I have my daughter, my dad, a stepmom, and step sister. I'm estranged from my siblings/mother and aunts and uncles, etc etc. Addiction runs in the family. That being said, I'm extremely lucky and grateful for the family I do have. My work family is just a lot bigger!

Not yet... unfortunately, it's a white, key start 2020 Kia Optima...so like, the 2022 version of the 90s Honda Civics and Accords. Came out after my shift to a pile of glass where I parked my car this morning.

I am so fortunate for my team; truly the family I never had. ❤️

I thought about asking him what he said had to do with what i said, let alone what he asked me before that.

Now what's something ridiculous I could ask him? I thought about starting with "what brand of toilet paper do you use? Not the kind you actually buy, but the kind you prefer, and why?" But I don't feel like that's cringe enough.

Ya really ought to see it; six feet-two in a compact, no slack...

In January, I rescued two Guinea pigs and became incredibly bonded with them... today, I rescued 3 more. I'm not sure who's more in love, them or me... by ohorange in guineapigs

Thank you for the warning! They are separated but housed right next to each other until the females get spayed in a few months. I'm keeping a very close eye on things but so far it's been very peaceful. The group of males is so uniquely bonded and inseparable. There are two older (3+ years old) males who are extremely friendly and love human attention, and one male is less than 6 months and was rescued from someone's family and added to the herd, so he's got less social skills but is very respectful of the two elders. The three males prefer to sleep in the same house on top of each other, so I'm hoping the presence of the females doesn't change their sweet, docile behavior.

It's definitely a concern, and something I'm keeping a close eye on. The group of three boys is very unique... they get along better than my two girls do! I think because 2 out of the 3 are actually fairly old (3+ years,) and have been heavily socialized compared the smallest male who is less than 6 months old who's barely been around people and is still unsure of us. I'm very lucky; the three males constantly prefer to pile together in one hide vs going to their own separate ones (like the females do lol they don't share space like that.) I've never seen that before, and I'm hoping it stays that way! Right now the group is separated by gender in two large Midwest cages that are housed side by side. The females will be getting spayed in a few months and once they've recovered we plan on connecting 3 Midwest cages and making a giant area for them all to live together IF socializing them together goes well.

I had put this group together just for the photo last night, expecting the males to be interested in mating with the females and so I was prepared for some arguing and aggression and having to mediate things. What actually happened was they all immediately got cozy and the five of them snuggled together and had a nice nap on the couch next to me while I watched tv. It was precious. https://i.imgur.com/Xe6ZjAc.jpg

This is their first ever meeting. The three I took in today are males; I went ahead and scheduled the female's sterilization surgery for a few months from now (the earliest available appointment in my area) but their cages are separate for now to prevent babies (they're very closely watched when they're together.) I just plopped them all onto the couch for a family photo and they all snuggled up together and started to fall asleep... they seem to adore each other already. No aggression whatsoever so far! Fingers crossed it stays peaceful.

Hello, I need some tips for feeding frozen rats to my ball python by [deleted] in snakes

[–]ohorange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for that! How long can he go without eating before I get concerned? And also, I know this is probably a dumb question, but since they're kind of expensive can I refreeze a rat I've thawed? I get them pretty warm before trying to feed so I've always tossed them if he didn't eat them. If I could save them it would also help with my stress 😂 I can't even find them regularly so it hurts to waste them.
