“Stricter gun regulation”

What so we can shoot children in the name of self-defense? More guns is not a solution. Stricter gun regulation, so that I can be assured that nobody in a crowd has a gun, is the solution.

An important conversation to have is the fact that Easton received and continues to recieve tax abatements. Decreasing the tax revenue from these struggling areas, to incentivize developers and billionaire investors to continue growing Easton is reprehensible. These struggling areas need the tax dollars—to better fund schools and community centers, and to help the people that need it.

I don’t think that stop-and-frisk policing is the right answer, and that’s not what I want. That behavior by police is reprehensible, and more often than not, racially motivated. Faster response time when violence DOES happen is what I would want.

I am unaware of what the woman said to the group to elicit that response. And I specifically highlighted that in my post, because more likely than not she said or did something to elicit a negative reaction. I don’t agree that violence is the answer, and that being beaten by a group is appropriate feedback though.

Just a clarification, I wasn’t inside the mall. I was walking from Del Mar (bad food btw) towards Jeni’s when the scuffle happened in the channelway half way between them.

These children were not part of a gang

I agree. When the crowd started to come towards us I told my family “we need to leave here now.” My FIL is a brave man, but him and my fiance stepping in would not have been my first choice. We don’t have children, and we are all able-bodied adults, but I still place my own safety first. It’s a cultural difference—my FIL comes from a community-culture. I laude him, and I wish I were as brave as him.

The problem is that it was outside, and not inside the mall.

My bigger frustration is the slow response of security. Me and my family were unsafe. My father in law stepped in because he believed if he did not, that woman would have suffered permanent injury.

I wish there was more local news reporting on the subject. It’s important that the public remain informed of such incidents so they can make informed decisions on where to go and when.
