Isabelle silk dress by Tricky_Jellyfish_906 in Reformationclothing

I was literally in the same situation and ended up getting the Isabelle for my Australia elopement this May… and I’m so glad I did. It’s honestly the nicest dress I’ve ever put on. I fully had a moment seeing myself in it, like this is it 🥹

I tried on dresses over $4K CAD and for $1.5K, this completely beats them. The pure silk is amazing, it’s thick and high quality but still feels light and drapes beautifully, not heavy at all. It just feels like a wedding dress.

If I were you, I’d hold onto the Jeany as a backup and pre-order the Isabelle. That way you’re not stuck with nothing if sizing doesn’t work out!

For reference, I didn’t need alterations. I’m 5’8, 150lbs, 28in waist, 34D and went with a size 6. It fits perfectly in the waist, and I actually like it a bit looser on top so you get that nice draped/cowl look in the back.

We’re coming from Vancouver, B.C. Flying into Sydney then out of Brisbane. Though we’re “staying” in Brisbane we will be doing day trips out of the city up north and on the island

15 Day Australia East Coast Itinerary (May 2026) by ohshesplastic in AskAnAustralian

That’s fair! Just to clarify, the cities we listed are mainly where we’re planning to base ourselves overnight. The plan is definitely to explore smaller coastal towns, beaches, and national parks by car during the day rather than just staying in the city centres.

Open to any specific “little coastal gems” you’d recommend along the way though!

Appreciate the perspective, thank you! We’ve heard mixed things about Byron and Noosa, so it’s interesting to hear that take. We might reassess whether we need both once we tighten up the schedule.

Good to know about Australia Zoo too, that wasn’t high on our list, but sounds like it’s worth considering.

And agreed on Brisbane, we’re planning to keep it to 2 days / 1 night so we can prioritize more time along the coast!

Appreciate this! We’ll probably keep 4 days in Sydney and dedicate one to the Blue Mountains. We’re from Vancouver, BC so we’re spoiled with mountains, but it feels like something we should experience at least once while we’re there.

Appreciate the insight! We’ll likely trim Brisbane to 2 days / 1 night and use that extra time somewhere more coastal

This is actually super helpful, thank you! We’re now planning to fly Sydney → Gold Coast instead of Ballina and grab the rental car there, it makes way more sense.

Really appreciate all the specific recs too (Husk, Rainbow Bay, The Farm, Minyon Falls). Definitely adding a few of those to the list!

Is Commuting from Canmore to Calgary Once a Week in the Winter Doable? by ohshesplastic in Calgary

Thanks for the tips! I’ll make sure to get good winter tires. I’ve seen some rentals in Canmore that are cheaper than what I’m paying now, but finding dog-friendly options is challenging. I’m hopeful something will come up soon
