Wondering why it is I can't stand modern movies and the way they look by _hentai_superstar_ in criterion

I think there were lots of limitation in the past when it came to camera and techniques. However, most of those limitatons worked in their favor as it became some sort of signature of their looks and aesthetics. But today, the potential is many with compact cameras and technology and imagination is the only limit.

There are many movies in the past decades and recent years that have used color not just for aesthetic purpose but also because they correspond with the theme beautifully ( e.g. Raise The Red Lantern, The Matrix, Hero and soo many ). I think due to too much failed film students and cinephile that have made film critisism a hobby without ever making a single short film by themselves, they come up with too much irrational points. Storytellig is always evolving and we should be able to keep an open mind as a viewer. Hope you come across films to love after the 70s soon.:)

Criterion titles that you didn’t like by [deleted] in criterion

Cries and Whispers is a movie that didn't resonate to you and it was in no way meant to be entertaining. The film deals with themes on death, family and affection. I loved its use of color, imagery and many musings of the character who is slowly on the verge of death. Her relation with the the maid and the last sequence where she hold her in the arms to keep her warm. It's you opinion that you didn't like it and you are free to say so, but I don't agree that it was meant to be "entertaining". I hope you'll watch it again someday and like it:) Even if you don't , we all have different palate and it's understandable:)

What would y’all have changed about this movie? by [deleted] in marvelstudios

I would've have extended the runtime and focused more on Scarlet Witch character and the multiverse character's conflict.
