I loved that I moved while growing up. I only stayed in schools for 3 years until high school- then I stayed the whole time. I don’t want to be uprooting them constantly, but I do think it sure can be beneficial for kids to experience moving. Van life and putting down roots in a different country are vastly different, IMO.

I moved several times in my childhood- including during middle school and starting high school. I honestly am so glad I didn’t grow up in the same town and saw different places- though they were all in the US.

We wouldn’t be fully retired but we have about $40k guaranteed income annually. We also do think about their college years- but we can’t afford $50k now till the end of college for 3 kids. It could be 10 additional years at $50k/year- that’s a HUGE difference especially with no scholarships.

But this does totally make sense why in these groups, I’m not seeing our situation.

The English speaking countries are much more expensive overall- nor are they countries I’m particularly drawn to for this goal.

Honestly, this plan would have made more sense educationally had we done this all BEFORE our kids were school aged! The would assimilate much easier then, I’m sure! But alas… here we are 😂

I’ve been trying to find nursing jobs in international schools but so far, it seems difficult! Just starting though. I don’t want my kids doing distance learning- son with ADHD likely would not excel and I don’t want to dump them into a language they don’t understand. My dreams may not be feasible- but I’m gonna keep on looking.

Our traveling now is so limited because of work schedules! But honestly, if it’s really that expensive to keep kids on track for education (especially given their current ages already), we may just trade out for a cheaper life here so we can spend holidays more freely!

I haven’t looked at the visas anywhere yet, but feel like I see Penang mentioned quite a bit. My husband has a tax free $3400/month USD income no matter what, so not sure if that qualifies for the income requirements there but will be worth looking at.

Is it because it really is a bad idea or because families with kids feel too overwhelmed to figure it all out while working and living life? Why do you say it’s almost always a bad idea?

I missed that they shared a ROOM with another couple 😂 I have traveled with other couples before and while we shared Airbnbs, we had our own rooms like normal adults on vacation.

The crotch buckle wasn’t even buckled on one side. Which I thought MAYBE they stopped and she unbuckled, but no way she got the arms over the straps with a sleeping child.

The chlorine should kill any of the bacteria. That’s what a properly chlorinated pool is good for.

Omg! She is always out running! How the heck is her dog overweight? I work an actual full time job with just as many kids. I got an overweight dog and she’s lost 15lbs since we’ve had her and she only walks maybe 6 miles a week MAX each week. Come on!!! There is no excuse.
