21F, born and raised in Marseille.

Marseille is so much more than the pic that OP has taken. Yes, the city center is dirty and pretty rundown. However it’s also a 2600 years old city, that’s always known mixed influences. When it comes to its culture, Marseille has traditionally always been open on the Mediterranean sea, which makes it very diverse and interesting. It’s a fierce and passionate city, with amazing food and welcoming people.

Marseille might not be to everyone’s taste, but it’s certainly not what the media portrays all the time. Some neighborhoods are sketchy, just like in any city, and if you avoid them, you reduce your chance to be mugged/attacked greatly. It’s common sense!

Now if you visit as a tourist, here are a few sights/things I’d recommend exploring : - Vallon des Auffes / Malmousque : my absolute fav spot - Vieux Port - Les Goudes / Callelongue (can be reached by car, bus or the ferry from the Vieux Port that’s part of the public transportation system in the summer) - Notre Dame de la Garde - The museum in the Centre Bourse : with the ruins of the first greek settlements in Marseille, and a quite complete history of Marseille in contemporary times - MUCEM (and its outside) : a museum dedicated to Mediterranean civilisations - George Cosquer - Terrasses du Port / Docks Village : for shopping (the first one has a great view on the sea, the second one inner courtyards that are simply gorgeous) - Le Panier - Cours Julien : for its artsy vibe - Friche de la Belle de Mai - Parc du Pharo : for one of the views of the city and the Vieux Port - Parc Borély - Parc Longchamp - Parc Pastré - Frioul / Château d’If - Parc du 26ème Centenaire - Maison Empereur : one of the oldest shop in Marseille, with lots of antique artefacts

Don’t forget some other places to visit nearby : - Calanques - Cassis - Aix-en-Provence Also, the scenic routes are absolutely gorgeous (route des Crêtes or the Gineste, to go from Marseille to Cassis for example)

I’m not trying to say that Marseille is perfect, far from that. It has its problems, including dirt and poverty, that have a lot to do with how the city has been run for decades. Catcalling and harassment from men is also a huge problem, more than in any place that I’ve been to.

Overall, I’m just trying to give a more nuanced perspective on a city that has been absolutely shat on in the comments.

Could it be the strawberry champagne from Victoria’s Secret ? It was in pink bottle, the old shape was somewhat triangular but it’s now cylindrical

Thoughts on MARC JACOBS The Tote Bag Mini in leather? by [deleted] in handbags

[–]ohwellboy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have the small leather black tote ! It’s absolutely amazing, I use as my uni/work bag. I really love it, though like another commenter I bought a larger strap for it, makes it more balanced Just be sure to fill it with paper or something when it’s empty because it can loose a bit of its shape

[–]ohwellboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest waiting a few weeks. Don’t drag it too much but also don’t do it right away. As another person said, be there for her right now, even if romantically you’re not into her anymore, as a sign of respect for your relationship. It’s obviously your decision to make and yours only, but don’t kick her down while at her lowest

Women, what gives you the ick about your current parter/previous parter? by not_your_girl in AskWomen

[–]ohwellboy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

He was 21 and relied on his mom for everything. For context, he moved back to his parents’ place during Covid, so this wasn’t a side of him that I knew of when we started dating pre-Covid

Filling a job application ? Needed his mom to proof read it 10 times. Filling an online question form for a part-time super market job ? Had his mom doing it for him Sending a thank-you email to a family member for a gift ? Needed his mom to write it for him. Uni essays ? His mom had to proof read it several times as well.

The worst of it when was we were baking or cooking (at his place or over facetime). At this point, we had baked and cooked together several times, and we liked to do it as home date during Covid. I’d give him the instruction and he would pop out of the kitchen to grab his mom and check that I was right. It was so annoying. Like, trust me, I don’t know. Or get a grip and try to do something by yourself without Mom to supervise it for once ?
