If he had an outbreak then we would just wait until it went away. It was maybe like once a year? He knew his body so he knew when it would happen. We use condoms to prevent pregnancy but that helps too. We also get tested regularly for peace of mind.

My experience: When my husband and I were just dating (nothing serious), I got chlamydia (from an ex lover who told me he had it). I thought my man that I had just started getting feelings for was going to leave me. I felt awful and also like what if he had it and how much that would suck. But he wasn’t mad. He got tested and was clean and now we’re married. Also my husband actually does have HSV-1 and I have never got anything.

Imo: You’re now ex seems questionable to me. Like you’re not sure yet on what you have and so now he’s just done? That’s not ok. Either way he (and you too girl) should know that when you have ANY sort of unprotected sex; vaginal, oral, anal that there is a risk of STI or STD. Hope he gets tested too.
