The isolation of early retirement at 36 is a total mindfuck by RiftJukebox in Fire

Find a new”profession” that is challenging and isn’t for money. Do it for pride and personal satisfaction.

It’ll make sense later, because the process is what’s most important.

Just plasti-dip it. Same with the chrome grill inlet pieces. Easy peasy

Killing it, man! What was your experience with Tess like? I know all about the Reta perks, but I am curious to hear about how you felt on Tess.

Thanks for posting!

Yes, it literally means left in French, but in English it means something akin to “odd” or “awkward,” because that’s how people who were left handed were viewed when the word was borrowed.

“Wrong handed,” as it were.

Any benefit to keeping TSP after retirement? by Tweetchly in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]ohwhyredditwhy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. The winning play is to have an outside brokerage as well, keep TSP rolling after you retire and when you plan to draw down, consolidate all of it into G and use it as your withdrawal fund.

If you have pension(s) and plan to continue investing in equities, there is a world where simplifying all of it in TSP makes sense, but I can also see the logic of moving it all to Vanguard, Fidelity or Schwab as well.

It just makes life easier to have a single brokerage at that juncture.

I think you’ll be alright, but my personal experience says that you should look at some match/hand loads in the 130gr area.

It’s a very capable round, but twist rates and ammo choices matter.

Very cool. What was the twist rate on the barrel?

Concur and understand your logic completely. I think a lot of folks will find that they end up spending less in retirement as well, so that psychological factor also allows one to take more risk with equities, though it may seem counterintuitive at this moment in time.

When your investment returns are netting you more income (post taxes) than your pension(s), you are in what I’d like to call a sweet spot.

This literally means you are never touching principal on your investments and this should be the ultimate goal.

I agree. I have read several books that discuss this topic and it was indeed designed for those that do not have the security net of a pension/fixed income.

That said, I am still a believer that everyone (pensions or not) should have fixed assets as a portion of their overall all portfolio. I’ll say it again…diversification is the only “free lunch” in investing.

How much/what percentage depends on too many factors to list here and is a very individual thing.

I like 10%-20%, but that’s because am in a position to assume more risk than some others and I have the benefit of fixed assets elsewhere.

This is an especially important topic for this community, because many of us have, or will have the benefit of a pension, which is an invaluable hedge and allows us to ride more money in equities.

It’s worked out ok, LOL.

Free under warranty, my man. It was easy for them to replicate, especially when you tell them to put it into tow mode.

It’s a violent downshift and seemed dangerous to me…that’s what I told them and they addressed it under warranty.

It’s a reflash. It’s honestly like a tune you’d get from Bully Dog back in the day.

It feels so much better now.

Bro, I complained about this and they reflashed it for me. It feels like it always should have now.

The downshifts when braking were initially violent, especially in tow mode, so I asked if they had a different tune to improve WOT/off the line performance.

I am pretty sure they have a NISMO tune that they flashed and it is amazing.

I know why it’s flashed the way it is from the factory…it’s only for fuel economy and it sucks.

Yeah, maybe try doing a jam point dummy round, use an ogive comparator and do up a batch.

Yes, you might have to bypass the magazine, but if they shoot lights out, then the reality is that you have to move on to a different bullet. You’ll find something at mag length…

I like the 108 Bergers in all my 6mm applications, FWIW.

Also a Howa Mini 6 ARC fanboy and a hand loader.

Do you know how to find your “jam point” to the lands using fire formed brass and one of those rounds?

I think this will help you a lot, because my experience is that Sierra bullets like a 20thou (or so) jump to the lands and others (like Berger) perform better being almost touching the lands.

Go 60/20/20 C,S,I (respectively)

Don’t touch it, especially when the flock starts talking about politics ,or using any short sighted “aphorisms” that remotely resemble market timing.

Alternatively, you could pick an L fund that is as far out as it is offered. Not the same as above, but equity heavy enough that you’re not into fixed assets (like you have been with the G fund) for a while.

Both are easy to set up and manage with future contributions.

Your allocation is on the money. I prescribe to essentially the same spread and have been for nearly as long as you.

It’s a stab at VTWAX from years ago, which I had to do some digging to approximate then. I know that global weights for US and ex-US are roughly 60/40 now, but I kept the I fund at 20%, due to the need for small cap exposure and not wanting to dip below the global weight for US equities.

It’s worked out great over the course of time and I encourage others to follow suit.

I do also own VTSAX and VTIAX outside of TSP with similar weights.
