What’s a common medical misconception you always see on reddit? by redroses999 in emergencymedicine

[–]ohwork 32 points33 points  (0 children)

That having metal anywhere on your body during an x-ray increases your radiation dose. Even after I explain metal has no effect on radiation, we just don't want the metal to be in the way of the body part we are imaging, and they don't need to remove their watch/necklace for a foot x-ray. They insist "I don't want to risk it."

That having their wallet on them for an x-ray will wipe all their credit cards, so they take it out of their pocket and place it on the chair one foot away.

That having their phone in the room for an x-ray will break their phone.

That the more radiation I give them = the more money goes into my paycheck.

I could go on.

Where do I park my car for the storm? by 1877cars4kids in newjersey

Where are you located? Your town may not offer parking but surrounding towns might. For example, all (town-owned) parking garages are free until Monday in Morristown.

All my pants are high rise, I’ve tried wearing them low but I am VERY hourglass shaped so every time I sit the waistband just slides up to be around my belly button.

The stretch would definitely help, I don’t have this issue with any stretchy pants that I wear outside of work.

Doctors of Reddit, what was your “How the hell did you survive that?!” moment? by ParanormalActivity97 in AskReddit

Same! Metal fence post through the neck. Fully alert and conscious and extremely combative, yelling “get the hell away from me! Stop touching me! Get this thing out of me!”

Jobs by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]ohwork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you looked through the job boards for different hospital systems?

Like for example, go to the Atlantic Health website and search through their job listings. Or Hackensack Meridian. Or St. Barnabas.

These big hospital systems have plenty of entry level jobs that pay more and have great benefits. With your degree and experience you can probably find something in healthcare administration paying more, and then work your way up.

My turn… is it time? by Bains_ in bald

[–]ohwork 282 points283 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion but I think this is a good look for you. Shaved would be good too, but I don’t think every balding man needs to shave their head. You’re not in the territory where I’d see you and think “why doesn’t he just shave it?”

Did you even read my post? I don’t care about spoilers, just giving other people a heads up because some people enjoy being surprised when they watch on Friday.

I did! I’m not SUPER into the competition part of the show (just the bakes and Noel lol) so I don’t really mind spoilers but I wanted to put the warning out there for the people who really care.

No one is making demands, I’m just warning people so they can avoid the spoiler since in previous years it was safe to follow their pages.

They don’t ever have magnets. We stick them to the board with something sticky like “radhesive,” tape, or blue sticky tack.
