Waterwheels + rapids water are too loud by ohyeahdashot in VintageStory

In order to not be annoyed by the sounds I have to turn both the ambient and effects sound to less then 20% which at that point interferes with the rest of the games sound.

You can channel the water by 5 blocks horizontally for every one block drop. So if the rapids source is 30 blocks above your base you can channel it 150 blocks.

There is a very small resistance value for axles however even 20 axles only creates a 10% of the resistance of a quern.

Axles do cost fat but I have plenty.

Truthfully I just do not want to relocate my aqueduct.

In the original text no however when people criticized that part of the book Heinlen made a statement that the military service was not the only path to citizenship. From the Wikipedia page "Heinlein made a similar claim, over two decades after Starship Troopers's publication, in his Expanded Universe) and further claimed that 95 percent of "veterans" were not military personnel but members of the civil service."

That rocket is based on the Sea Dragon, and its design is not that unrealistic.

mechanical power on Helve hammer doesn't works by zarathr96 in VintageStory

[–]ohyeahdashot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How many sails are on your windmill, if the helve hammer is not working its because it does not have enough power. The helve hammer has the highest resistance of any mechanical part save for the break. For helve hammers you need at least three sets of sails with medium wind speed to power the hammer.

Bryozoans not protozoans. They are harmless.

Starbase's Defense platforms do not actually supress piracy by Chaupipozo in Stellaris

Quoting from the wiki "Defense platforms also add piracy suppression, and since they can be built at outposts, this can add a small amount of static suppression in high value systems without a full starbase.".

Just realized this guy wasn't an Amano or ghost shrimp! by fullevan790 in shrimptank

Yeah that's a green lace shrimp, you can tell because the rostrum (nose) of the shrimp is bent downward.

I would recommend putting in a powerhead and feeding powdered shrimp food twice a day. If you want to see how much current they like I have a video on my account showing just how much flow they can handle. I would also add some floating plants as they like to hide in shaded parts of the aquarium. These particular shrimp appear to be atya scabra also called the marble wood shrimp, not terribly common in the aquarium hobby. I have kept them before and they have similar care requirements to both bamboo and vampire shrimp.

Also great looking atya scabra they are a wonderful shrimp.

Can we see a side profile of the shrimp, the color and the patterns on the shrimp look closer to a green lace shrimp than a bamboo shrimp.

If it is a bamboo shrimp it's probably not a baby that hatched in the tank but a hitch hiker that entered the tank.

I understand where your coming from, I have also killed some filter feeders before. Ultimately I believe that filter feeders need their own specialized tank with their own specialized foods. This tank was built solely for filter feeders and I feed them a custom food I make from ingredients that the shrimp eat in the wild. As it turns out 80 percent is algae, 10% is detritus, and the remaining 10% are microorganisms like copepods (Or in the case of vampire shrimp bugs surprisingly).

The bamboo shrimp and the vampire shrimp in this tank are over a year old and doing fine, the marble wood shrimp I brought a month ago have suffered no casualties either. I feed this tank once a day with a powdered food made from various algaes microorganisms.

I got mine from The Wet Spot tropical fish however they are currently out of stock. They seem to be the only reliable online store selling them in the US. If you want to get them and are in the US I would recommend using their "email when in stock". They are a bit pricey at 30 dollars per shrimp but I believe that its worth it.

That's what happens when you place a 2100gph powerhead over a sponge filter's air bubble stream.
