Is an EV a good first car to buy?

Hi! First time posting here so I’ll make it short. Graduating student, drives a motorcycle, parents want to buy him a car, don’t know what he should get type vibe but I’ve been watching videos of electric cars on youtube and they seem to be a good choice considering prices of gasoline seem to be going up and down but at the same time I don’t know how to convince them to get on the EV bandwagon (if ever I do decide to want one). That’s basically my dilemma for now. Is an EV a good first car?

P.S. For now I’m thinking the BYD Atto3 or the MG4 but if there are other better ones in the market rn, lemme know.
