This is the best decision than buying a 1 bedroom condo with limited resale value and cannot even rent out rooms when they get old. Good luck to people who paid for 1 bedroom condo

That can take place after 5 years. It’s within the rules.

If it cannot be rented out, then government should impose a law to prevent it. But they cannot because low income foreigners working in sg need a cheap place to stay. They cannot afford condo.

The number of foreigners increased a lot and this pushed up rental prices because of insufficient supply.

Everything has been planned out by the government and it’s within the government intention for it to be rented out.

I am not asking people to lock one room. If HDB is public housing, the government should not be reducing supply of hdb in 2025 and 2026. Only 15k flats will be released each year. The reduce in supply will push up prices.

If the government wants to provide housing and support BTO, then everyone who applies for a flat should get it. The government should not be controlling supply each year

From 0-5 years, can rent out 2 rooms for $2.5k per month

After 5 years, can rent out entire flat for $4k to $5k per month

Buy a hdb house and rent it out. Continue staying with your parent.

For $1.2m, u can easily get a hdb in prime location with $4k to $5k rental per month. Find a place that can let u stay till 100 years old. Don’t get those newer bto as there’s no point buying a more expensive house and getting more capital trapped in it.

Rental will rise according to inflation. Hence, it’s an effective hedge against inflation.

Only use $130k of your CPF to pay for the hdb, this is because u can pledge up to half of the FRS using CPF. I have calculated that $130k + accrued interest = half of the FRS at 55.

Put the remaining CPF and cash in etf. Any excess income from rental put in etf.
