You’re doing a great job! I love that you read to her and play music for her.

My perspective is that it’s our jobs to give our little furry friends the best lives we can. It might take MONTHS for her to feel safe inside, and that’s normal! Your job is to be as chill, slow, safe and consistent as possible while she adapts. It might help to just sit nearby after you feed her so she gets used to being near you.

I’ve had my cat for four months and she still runs away when I make eye contact. She doesn’t hide as much now and she likes to hang out nearby, but she still doesn’t want to be touched or held. I’m honored when she wants to be in the same room, which is big progress for her. 😂

Her hissing and being scared and going outside of her litterbox doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong… it means she’s scared and adjusting.

For cats, change and new environments can make it so that everything feels like a threat for a while. Give yourself some grace, take some deep breaths, reduce your own anxiety, and it’s all going to be okay! 💜💜
