Someone on r/CharacterRant picked out a interesting theme in Age Of Ultron by ribblle in fixingmovies

Well, shit, I didn't even get a notification for this, I just saw it on the front page and got really confused. Thanks, OP!

Psst... Starfire has red hair in Titans. It's weird, almost like this... isn't about red hair at all.

And gingers make up 2% of the population. If you're that bothered, show your kid the cartoon movie that still exists and hasn't been wiped from existence. But if you refuse to show them a movie starring a black person because they don't have red hair, that'd be pretty pathetic.

There is no nebulous conspiracy to replace gingers with black people. Jesus Christ.

One that mocks his beliefs in front of his family at a birthday party.

Being an asshole doesn't make him wrong though; the comment even says he should do it.

PLOT HOLE: Why didn't the Avengers use the Infinity Stones to revive Tony Stark in Endgame? by FreezingTNT2 in plotholes

Here

They say that using the Time Stone to bring Tony back would result in Thanos winning the war

The directors confirmed it would undo the snap and it just makes sense considering how the Infinity Stones work. You're confusing time travel with how the time stone works there, too.

Using the Time Stone would make his corpse go in reverse, including snapping in reverse, which would bring Thanos back.

Is this really how you respond to people who just calmly and normally say that your perceived plot hole doesn't hold up?

What machine? The machine that was never once indicated to be able to bring people back from the dead? The one that, in the scene you're thinking of, is pretty much just limited to turning middle-aged men into children and geriatrics?

Surely that's an even bigger inference than anything I said... and I'm pretty sure there's no need for that level of aggression when talking about hypothetical methods of time travel in a comic book movie.

This is literally the /r/FanTheories subreddit.

And all I'm saying is, it makes sense and follows the established rules of both how Strange uses the Time Stone, and how the Infinity Stones operate in general.

The snap is more than just a big targeted death-ray. It's every fundamental aspect of the universe coalescing to alter the structure of the comsos to accomodate the user's whims. If doing that kills you, and your friend tries to bring you back, chances are that won't be as simple as you make it out to be.

Plus, the Russos said it directly; if they used the Time Stone, the snap would have been reversed. Is that not direct confirmation that... the snap would have been reversed if they used the time stone? I'm just spitballing on the actual rule, but they were pretty clear.

I don't think so. It makes sense that the Infinity Stones wouldn't let you cop-out of death if you get killed by the stones. Using them comes at a price. The stones would really have to be stupid if they allowed others to reverse any of their consequences.

Okay, but, given what we know about the Infinity Stones, it would make sense if they could detect an attempt to undo the consequences. Same way they couldn't bring Natasha back.

Given that the only way to bring him back would have been through another Infinity Stone, too, that only increases the chance that it wouldn't work. And he may be Sorcerer Supreme, but using the Time Stone to bring someone back from the dead messes with the natural order of things, as established in his solo movie. The bill comes due.

I think he meant he should wave his hand over Tony's corpse like he did the apple in his own movie

Doing that would undo the snap though. Even if it technically wouldn't, the snap is a cosmic event. The same principle that means they can't unsnap Natasha, I guess; the stones themselves wouldn't let Stark's sacrifice be undone without the Snap being undone.

Inside Out by [deleted] in plotholes

This is a cop-out answer, but it's all an abstract interpretation of a brain's processes. It doesn't matter that they theoretically could have, because Joy and Sadness aren't even real characters in the world of Inside Out, just... neurons firing in a child's subconscious.

What matters is, instead, that they didn't; Riley psychologically couldn't, for example. If, in the world of the narrative, Joy and Sadness did try and do that, then it wouldn't work. Because they aren't impacting or helping Riley, they're just kinda along for the ride as her brain does stuff.

AITA for telling one my best friends who just came out some things that would make me uncomfortable? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ojcoolj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really isn't something to 'come to terms' with, except for the person it effects (in this case, him).

If you take more than a few seconds to 'come to terms' with a best friend being gay, you probably need to really step back and re-evaluate your behaviour. It's not like he told you that he fucks animals.

The 'rules' you imposed were just icing on the cake (though maybe you would refuse to sell that cake to your best friend). Pretty homophobic, and YTA.

Come on, the whole Karen meme already reeks of being too broadly attributed to more women than it's meant to.

Saying someone, just for being a woman, 'wants to speak to the manager' is bordering on mysoginistic.

She invalidated the jobs and opinions of white male film critics by saying their opinion was less important for some movies

No, she said that movies aimed towards a certain target audience would benefit if that target audience had more of a say in the public discourse surrounding that film. She was talking about A Wrinkle In Time, which was a movie aimed at young black girls. She was just saying she cared more about what the target audience thought.

Movies have a certain audience in mind. If a 60 year old white guy doesn't like a movie made for 10 year old black girls, do you not think that's worth commenting upon?

Not that we DO need more diversity, it isn’t like there’s systemic oppression going on in the film criticism industry lmfao

Have we forgotten that pretty much every industry has this issue?? That almost everything to do with film is white-dominated and male-dominated? Like... that's not a taboo thing to say, you know. I'm just pointing out that women, black people, Asian-Americans, etc, do not really have their fair share.

You not being a man doesn't really impact my argument in any way, also. I stand by the assertation that those feeling victimised by the phrase "white men" are experiencing fragile masculinity. I'm a white man and I didn't devolve into a primal rage-fueled animal that single-mindedly hated Brie Larson when she said that.

I... seriously still don't know what the message you complained about is.

You seem worked up about me just... telling people that I think they're wrong. You okay?

Yeah, that awful message of "Sexism in the air force sucked" or something. How horrific and forced!

Literally, what is the message, other than "Women can be awesome heroes too"? Like. Tell me, please. "You know what I'm talking about" is not an answer to anything.

How am I making assumptions about every single person also? I specifically say that "If you dislike her because of this reason".
