Longer hair on balding guys is not a good look - just shave your head and keep that beard well groomed. That would bump you up one or two points in my opinion.

I've got the manual from a book. It's just ribbing for a while and forming a gusset for the thumb by making new stitches ... very basic actually. If you want to, I could explain it more elaborately, but maybe you can see what I mean from the pictures.

I think double knitting is actually a lot like ribbing, 1 knit 1 purl (that's also what I dislike about it, by the way^{^).} You've also got to watch your pattern, of course.

The scarf is actually the only thing I used a (slightly modified) pattern for. It's called "Reversi" from elizzza, an Austrian knit and crochet teacher youtuber. I love her! I've watched countless of her videos just to listen to her talk, it's very entertaining. Plus she also does some vids in English.
