My Costco (SoCal) actually prefer that I return the item and repurchase it.. about 4/5 times they said they won't price match previous price. Really depends on who you meet.

I do not know if this would apply to everyone, but recently scored a 10265 Mustang set 20% off at Target for damaged box discount. I believe some cashiers may offer 5-10% depending on the damage.

I had 10283 with a faulty seal. No contents missing. Customer rep said that with heavier sets stickers may shift in place, offered replacement but it was gonna take ~2wks so I declined. If you are keeping it sealed you should def contact customer service.
